It's once again time to kick things off with another contest, our second out of four sponsored contests for the year. We've decided to return to a popular theme that we had last year about this time and will be making this a return event for some time to come, along with some other fun themes here later in the year.Overwhelming muscles, the need for a big weapon and the underlying instinct to show off for the fairer sex? If the answer is yes, then your miniature is more than qualified for the Total Testosterone painting contest!

The contest will run from May 8th through June 18th and during that time competition entries can be submitted. At the close of the contest, voting will commence for one week where you will be allowed to vote anonymously through the Wyrd forum software as well as leave comments and critique which we have found our previous entrants have greatly enjoyed. After the voting, announcements will be made and prizes sent to the winners, along with the random prizes that we give away with every contest.

Due to the theme, your miniature must be male, and to be more specific, a human or humanoid type. Examples are: Humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, centaurs, male vampires, ogre bulls, WWII cyber-zombies ... etc. The list is rather long and and open, but if you should question it, please contact me and I will give you a final decision upon it.

The specific rules for the contest can be found on the Wyrd Miniatures website on the forums under 'Wyrd Painting Contest: Rules and Information' (http://wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?t=450). I would really like to stress folks to read the rules, as folks tend to miss them for some reason and they end up misunderstanding the contest, the theme or disqualify themselves.

The categories for the contest are:
ALTERNATIVE: The men that just don't seem to fit anywhere else in the categories. Cowboys, naval officers or chainsaw wielding postal workers (okay, that last one wasn't funny - really!)

DEADLY DUEL: A diorama with two or more combatants locked in combat or something equally disturbing. Atleast one miniature must be male.

FANTASY: Sword wielding barbarians, magic casting magicians, deadly muscled assassins ready to draw you blood. If the miniature is pure fantasy, this is his category.

SCI-FI: Gun blazing street samurai of the deadly future or weapon wielding aliens dancing a song of death or perhaps a steampunked necromancer plying his disgusting trade. A wide range of miniatures will fit nicely into this category.

MONSTER'S BALL: Due to demand and the fact that we just can't seem to get away from folks want to enter male monsters, we've added this category. If its a male, and a monster of any sort (this will include everything from centaurs to wanged demons), then here he goes.
Once again we have been very fortunate with the number of sponsors that have chosen to provide support packages for the contest. Thank you very much for your time and efforts and I encourage everyone to let them know your appreciation! The contest sponsors are, in no particular order:Wyrd Miniatures, Wyvern Games, Hasslefree Miniatures, Assassin Miniatures, Eastern Front Studio, Freebooter Miniatures, M.S.B. Toys, Privateer Press, Crunch Waffle Miniatures, Magnificent Egos, Mars Ultor, Lance and Laser, Black Scorpion Miniatures, Goodman Games, Revelation Miniatures, Black Hat Miniatures, Testors, Impact! Miniatures, Iron Wind Metals, Exodus Road Hobbies and Game Forces Magazine

We hope to add many more sponsors in the near future as decisions are made or folks are able to relax just a bit after all the conventions that are coming up or have just finished. If you would like to support the contest, please feel free to contact me.

I am once again looking forward to a great contest as tney seem to be getting bigger and better with each passing due to your participation and the sponsors. Thank you! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

I have said so privately and will say so publicly now. This is the best web-based painting contest out there. Great fun, great sponsorship, and great talent.

I am actually going to get started on this before the deadline date....well, not right away, I may wait awhile....

Will there be manufacturer specific awards again? That might help me make up my mind as to what I want to paint.

well, I sort of thought it was tradition that I say I am going to enter something before the contests starts, and everyone would get disapointed if I just stayed quiet :D

Yup, there are manufacturer awards - who has them right now, can't remember off the top of my head. I'll be posting information on sponsors, prizes, awards, etc here in the next day or so as time permits.

And also it's the only one I enter. Every time :D In fact I have already started on my first entry and he's about 30% finished. However, let us remember the 80/20 rule that says that the last 20% take up 80% of the time :D

Darn...won't make it to send in any entries...:(
My Privateer Press Gang time and the WARMACHINE Patrols 2006 (and my study and work) eat up all the time and I don't want to rush entries. I had a BIG Heresy demon planned and Bishop and Killjoy...but they are primed and will be done once I have the time again :)

Good luck to the others...and I will vote and leave feedback for everyone.

Just a reminder, one week left for entrants to submit their miniatures. And though I shouldn't have to say it by now, please remember to keep it anonymous.

Galleries and polls should be up by Wednesday at the latest, though I'm pushing for Tuesday.

Monday - nadda being done, wifes birthday, ya'll can't expect me to get knackered by the wife over the contest can you?!?!

Tuesday/Wednesday, I'll be editing the photos that need it (this will be the last contest I do this, amending the rules for future contests), renaming files as lots of names have been slipped in on file names and generally just setting up the gallery and polls for the voting.

After the galleries and polls are finished, they will remain open for seven days in which time comments and votes can be made. I'll give the rules on all that again though when the time comes.

Thanks for pointing that out Dan, and Maya, for answering it. I don't get around the TMP forums much, so if anything like this arrises, feel free to let me know as you have - it is appreciated.

Wife isn't on the boards though, so wrong user name there Brimshack (heh), though I suppose I could start up a Wyrd harrem ... hrmmm, where is EricJ when you need to abuse him?
