So currently as I enter GD mode and money making work output decreases I am on a mini buying ban (self imposed although the missus has the testicle removers ready) So Arcane miniatures put up a comp where £150 store credit plus a VGC paint set was the prize.. I had originally planned on putting this guy in TT but my sense of time got lost so I held him back and put him in the Arcane comp and BLOODY WON....... I personally wouldn't have picked me as a winner but hey ho I'm now a happy chappy.

so here is the mini did.. The damned of Anger... one of Hell dorados mental sculpts and hopefully you can see why I initially chose him for TT .. Great great fun model to paint.. I have lost a lot of the flesh work in the pics but the general idea was to play with varying the skin tone by introducing one colour into the base to represent different areas.. The main living flesh on the face legs and hands is basecoated gw tanned flesh with a touch of red gore added in shaded with ctachan green and purple and highlighted with P3 Hammerfall Khaki (Cheers Anders) and GW space wolves grey.
The wrapped skin on the hands and the loincloth the same except P3 Thornwood green was added to give it a slightly less alive look
The dead body parts had GW scaly green added and the space wolves grey replaced with rotting flesh.

The muscle areas wre first painted over grey with a P3 midlund flesh highlighted with white. Then glazes of a mixture of Red and Purple inks with a little chaos black were built up to give a raw bloodied muscle texture and sheen.

The blood was done the same as my killjoy in the chronicles.. around three layers of the tamiya red and black built up over the base.. on the weapons.For some reason the back of the sword looks flat in the pic bit it is mush the same as the front view IRL.

was nice to use metallics just boltgun base highlighted mithril then galazed with GW dark flesh red gre and purple...rehighlighted with metallic medium...

The base was kept simple as the comp wasn't basing orientated and the model is busy enough...

phew ......

anyways let me know what ya think I had a ball doing it and now have some shopping decisions to make... woohoo....

Wow Rob... Your insanely skilled. Please feel free to enter stuff like this in comps I'm not competing in from now on ;)
Grats on the win!

I really like what you did on that mini, Rob! Most versions I've seen of this sculpt have been very much the same thing all over the mini, and as it's rather big, that's a LOT of samey samey stuff. You've made it look more interesting and haven't fallen for the temptation to just make a lot of gore. There is gore, but it's more subtle, which helps putting the focus on the character of the mini instead of the icky parts.

Congratulations on winning the competition too. I don't know what you were up against, so I can't say if it was deserved or not, but it's a spanking good mini, so I'm sure you are a worthy winner. :D

Meh.
Unimpressed.
You clearly were motivated by the chance to get new minies and were not competing for the honor and glory of winning.
It shows in the flawless execution and attention to detail. I mean really, you aren't fooling anyone!

<grin>
Well done and congratulations!

Woah. Speechless...
Oh, yeah--congrats! Keep bending the rules on mini purchases like that and you'll need a bigger room to store all that booty!

cheers Guys much appreciated....
@ Bugking .. Yep I'm a sell out whore....
@ritual I am happy that you have noticed basically what I was aiming for on the mini.. The original plan of TT meant I wanted the focus to be more the Anger character of the sculpt .. subtly introduing more reds in the undertones as I reached the face area ..(the red mist descending..;) Mind you had it been for Rotten Harvest it would probably have been an all ot Gore fest...

@all glad you like him.....cheers
