need sugestions on painting necrotized/dead skin

I was wondering how to paint a pale necrotised skin, anyone have any tricks tips or methods they would be willing to share?

I've been avoiding some zomies for the the same reason. I have no clue how to do it but I've been checking out some pics of dead stuff. Try see what looks good to you and then try and work backwards on it. Maybe paint base pale skin, then start washing purps and blues on underside, while hitting topsides with pink/magentas...? Thats what I've got planned so far. Here are some people that know more than I though:
