Hi all, I was wondering if anybody here has used Dwarven Forge terrain sets for their miniature gaming, and if so, what are your experiences and opinions of it? I have been looking at it recently and thinking about investing in a set or 2 to check it out but have been looking for some outside perspective on how well it looks and works before I throw down a large chunk of money, seeing as the sets aren't cheap.

I think the stuff looks great for what it is: pre-painted terrain with customizable layouts. I'm wondering how good the pieces actually look compared to the pictures on their website. Also, does the size of the squares (25mm) noticeably hinder the use of minis that are slightly larger (such as the increasingly popular 28-32mm size range)?

Thank you for any comments.

I've often liked the look of the stuff too, but have always been turned off by the high price.

If 'sturdiness' isn't a big issue for you, check out WORLD WORKS...it's downloadable paper models.....but don't let that scare you. Some of the stuff is fantastic.

I'm a huge fan of Dwarven Forge, and at one time owned all of their sets. It's durable, highly interchangable and I think worth every penny. To save a few bucks, you can look for incomplete sets on eBay or mini forums. I never had any pieces break, and they have felt bottoms, so they won't scratch up your tables.
Oh- they also work just fine for 28-32 mm models.

In all fairness, I had a gander at Dwarven Forge's sci-fi line. And the starting set is more reasonably priced.
