ok, so as the wyrd chronicles #2 draws closer, we're going to give up a few more secrets about this game we've been working on. So the question is...what do you want to know?!
Look for answers to any and all questions in the Wyrd Chronicles #2...if I get enough questions that is...

What will the initial game 'pack?' include
Cost?
What special extras will be needed; templates, counters etc

Is the "diceless" rumor true?
How many models are required to play?
What is the average flight speed of an unladen swallow?

What is the average flight speed of an unladen swallow?
African or European?
Any chance we could see some more setting stuff to help those of us looking to make terrain?
What's the background behind the arcanists and resurrectionists?
Any background on the cosmology of Malifaux?

More fluff about the various factions and characters.
More on the interfaction relationships i.e. how well does lady justice know about say the ortegas and her opinions of them.
More on the game rules. If not specifics, then abstractions and sort of how a game will "flow".
If the we are using cards, could you go into details about what kind. My mind has been burning up since I saw the "Ace of Rams" in Wyrd Cronicles #1.
More on mercs and what they mean to other factions.
More fluff in general, this setting facinates me.
And... and... um... uh... er... Nee!!

What is about the comic?
I'd like to see more drawn art of the new world, as you started with 'The Art of Malifaux'...

A preview of the core system (will there be statistics for the troops like movement, bow skill etc), an overview of how magic interacts with the world and to echo Tenebrae fluff on the factions, an overview and details of alliances like the quick stuff on the Rackham shop in the army descriptions.
And another big painting article from Demonherald, the golem article rocked.
Maybe a print on demand version of the rules if a full print run is not financially viable (after you get that card set printed, playing poker with it should be cool!).

Thanks for all the questions, keep them coming!
Unfortunately I won't really be getting into the fluff of it all, I just am not that involved in it, but rest assured there will be quite a bit of fiction in the upcoming issue :)

For those of you asking for fluff, you'll get more of that in this issue and it'll give you a further snapshot into Malifaux and how things are being put together. We're also looking into doing internet fluff pieces which will get published only here on the site.

I've always pronounced it Shay-mus.
Kind of raises an interesting question about some of the other names. This is how I pronounce them:
Nicodem - Nick-o-dem
Sonnia - Son-ya
Samael - Sam-i-el
Sybelle - Sib-el
Ramos - Ray-mos
Taelor - Tay-lor
Misaki - Mee-sockee
Hamelin - Ham-len
Killjoy - Bob :D
How far off am I on those?

I agree with most of those although I suspect its
Sama-el -- after the archangel Sammael.

A favorite author of mine once wrote this in the last paragraph of an Author's Note at the end of one of her novels:
Quite a few people have asked how to pronounce various names. My reply: Any-old-how you want. Most are spoken just the way they look. More or less. Whatever sounds good to you is fine with me, and probably fine with the characters as well. After all, they're not exactly in a position to complain.
:D
I'm sure this is in response to some of her more unusual character names like Sioned, Ianthe, Camigwen, Malyander, Izaea, and others.
I think this is Vike's own pronounciation guide:
Misaki - "Boo-bees"
Perdita - "mooorr boo-bees"
Lilith- "gawds - thaaat alotta boo-bees"
Lady Justice - "bo-ing"
:D

I would like to know a bit about army composition. How "mixable" will the miniature range be? Can I field Lady Justice and Samael in the same band?
demonherald
07-04-2008, 09:52 AM
on that same note will the game purely be driven by the named characters or will there be the ability to create your own generic master and band??

I'd be interested to know about army composition as well, does it require that you have to have a master, a henchman, and a few toadies, can you mix and match henchman, how ill mercs factor in for this?

I had a few things I just thought of tonight:
Will characters have special equipment to reflect the items shown in their sculpture, and if so will these items be optional for point cost, or will they just be considered part of the cost of the miniature?
Is there any fluff available on some of the early miniatures? Lots of the miniatures created now seem like they are created with the intent of filling some role in the game, but some of the earliest stuff wasn't created with Malifaux in mind (at least I don't think it was). Any chance of sharing fluff for some of the most iconic early Wyrd miniatures (Viktoria, Ramos, etc.) regarding their place in Malifaux?
I think a few people already asked this, but are there any chances of getting samples of how combat/magic unfolds? Is it possible to even get a full-blown battle report of a sample game with some of the more recent rules adjustments?
edit: fixed paragraph spacing problem

I'm wondering if we will be able to create skirmish groups consisting of minis from more than one faction. As of now, it seems like the only thing that distinguishes which faction a character will belong to is the abilities they have (people who can raise the dead belong to the resurrectionists). There really doesn't seem to be any confusion about this, with the exception of the mercenaries. I'm wondering though, if people from 2 different factions had the same moral ideas, but achieved them in different ways....would they be allowed to group? Hypothetical Example: lets say Perdita wants to eliminate all the Neverborn and works for the Guild. Marcus the Beastmaster wants to eliminate all the Neverborn as well, but works within a different faction. Marcus has no personal vendetta against the Ortegas and vice versa, they want the same end goal, but are grouped into a different faction regardless of the motivations because they achieve their goals in a different manner.....would they be allowed to group? This is taking purely hypothetical bits of assumed information for the sake of the argument...but if these assumptions were true, would they be able to group, or is it limited by faction (with the exception of mercenaries)?

Speaking from a fluff point-of-view, yes the mercenaries may group together, although it may not always be an easy alliance. Some will get along ok; others will border on outright hate, brought together only by a common enemy.
