Nothing spectacular to announce at the moment other than to let you know that two new Wyrd Miniatures will be coming out here shortly and the next Wyrd Painting Contest is being planned at this moment.

You may notice the scrolling banners on the left side that say 'Upcoming Contest Sponsors', these are the fine folks who have already signed on to support the next contest (theme decided, but to be announced). As more come on board they will be added. Huge thanks, it is appreciated it.

If you are interested in supporting the upcoming contest please feel free to drop me a line.

Nathan, your contests are great and I appreciate all the work you've done. Is there anything a poor student with nothing to give really except for time can do to help you? And don't say "Participate", you know I will anyway :vb_tongue

Ermm ... participate?

:thumb:

Seriously though, if you are interested in helping out, the best thing you can do is get the information out about the contest to as many sites, forums, friends and even manufacturers (if it would be something they would be interested in) to increase participation both in submitting for the contest as well as commenting and voting upon it.

Other than that - I'm open to suggestions. The software pretty much takes care of all the voting and commenting these days, as well as the galleries. And my poor Moderators don't realize it yet, but they'v ebeen shanghied onto a veritable slave tub as I'm going to put them to work on moderating comments, editing information and getting the whole thing moving smoothly (well, until they tell me to bugger off that is).

No problem, will get the info up on the FOD as soon as you launch it.

A lot of people have been asking for hints and suggestions for the next contest and at this moment all I'll say is that it will run from January 25th through March 5th, with voting and commenting shortly after.

The actual theme won't be released until the official announcement so that folks don't go taking a head start on everything - even if it is only a week as of writing this.

As you can see from the rotating banner on the front page, we have quite a large selection of sponsors for this particular contest, nine at the moment, ten if you count Wyrd (and yes, we'll be providing prize support as well) and hopefully counting.

:D

Yup, that's us, and we're obviously proud to sponsor our own contest. :tongue2:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/wyverngames1.jpg (http://www.wyverngamesllc.com/)

Wyvern Games LLC, run by Maya and Ann have been very strong supporters of the Wyrd Painting Contests from the begining and even talked me into running another after our first contest with the Reaper Wereshark. These two ladies are more or less responsible for Wyrd having 'grown' because they pushed me to get off my backside. Thank you!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/revelation1.jpg (http://www.revelation-miniatures.com/)

James is a newcomer to the miniature industry as well, releasing shortly before Wyrd and he has an excellent line of miniatures and some interesting new ones on the horrizon. Very generous, overly so, with the last contest and well appreciated for his time and efforts to support yet another Wyrd Painting Contest.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/hasslefree1.jpg (http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/)

Kev and Sally have been large supporters of the Wyrd Painting Contest from the first and are two of the most giving people I know in this industry with both support and advice for new comers such as Wyrd. Fantastic miniatures, especially if you like some BBW and I own all of the lovely ladies.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/assassin1.jpg (http://www.assassin.de/)

For some serious fantasy miniatures here is where you go, with an interesting and growing line. A very well put together site and great painted product which we don't get to see enough of here in the states IMO.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/easternfront1.jpg (http://www.easternfront-studios.com/)

Eastern Front Studios has a couple of lines of miniatures that have a great fantasy feel to them - Dungeon Crawl and Fathoms Deep. There are some real winners in that line and from the recent concepts that Mick has been showing, there looks to be some great additions coming to Fathoms Deep.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/blackscorpion1.jpg (http://www.blackscorpionminiatures.com/)

Adam from Black Scorpion Miniatures is also a first time supporter of the Wyrd Painting Contest, having come upon the miniature scene a few months back, but he's done a great first showing with his Desolation Row in particular, but more and more people seem to be flocking to his modern military packs. Looking forward to what he has planned for the future!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/infinity1.gif (http://www.infinitythegame.com/)

Who hasn't heard of the new Infinity line?! A new anime-manga styled miniature line and game that has gotten a lot of attention in the last few months with some spectacular sci-fi miniatures and top of the line presentation and studio jobs. Lots of interesting things to come from the new Infinity line and I for one am eager to see it unfold.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/ironwindmetals1.jpg (http://www.ironwindmetals.com/)

A company that has been around just about as long as I've been alive and that's saying something! Tons and tons and tons of miniatures produced by Iron Wind Metals with some great oldies that a lot of us remember as well as some new ones to grab your attention again. More than a good portion of my collection has come from the IWM line.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/goodmangames1.jpg (http://www.goodmangames.com/)

Goodman Games has become a well known name in the D20 market that exploded a few years back with the release of D&D 3E with tons of modules and game support and recently they have created and cast their own line of Dungeon Crawl Classics Miniatures based off the 'pre rolled' characters that they've included in their modules. Very old school and have a real charm about them and look like great fun to paint!

That's the line up, as of right now and a great one if I say so myself. The start of the next Wyrd Painting Contest is looming here soon and perhaps we'll add a few more sponsors to the lineup, but as it stands now, we've got a heck of a crew behind us and ready to throw free swag at you for painting.

Can't wait ..

I'm pleased to announce some additional supporters for the Wyrd Painting Contest, though I'm sure you've already noticed their banners rotating on the front page.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/reaper1.jpg (http://www.reapermini.com/)

A giant in the industry with a large selection of miniatures used for roleplaying by a great many and a popular miniature game called Warlords. Some great stuff!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/msbtoys1.jpg (http://90plan.ovh.net/~msbtoys/)

Popping back after some unwarrented setbacks, MSB Toys is running full steam again and is selling their full line of miniatures directly through their site these days. A fantastic collection of miniatures, their most heralded line from 'The Monkey King'. Can't wait to see this stuff in person.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/spyglass1.jpg (http://www.spyglassminiatures.com/)

A wonderful selection of miniatures from Steve Buddle who has recently scaled back his opperations but has a great selection of miniatures that are still available through the market, his most recent some revamped 54mm ladies and his fantastic zO setting.

Lastly, I would like to say that I have met some of the most interesting and giving people since setting up Wyrd and the painting contests and I am continously amazed at how giving people can be!

An annonymous donation (I know who, but they don't want to have their name announced) of Reaper Kyra and Lavarath, the 3000th mini from Reaper Miniatures, has been donated for the Wyrd Painting Contest.

Very cool. And thank you!

Dragonblood Miniatures is a newcomer to the miniature industry as well, though it has quickly made a name with inovative miniatures as well as the spectacular painting Eric Louchard gives his line.

I'm pleased to announce an additional sponsorer for the contest.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/darkage1.jpg (http://www.dark-age.com/)

Dark Age Games is based off the fantastic and dark artwork of Brom. His creations have been brought to life by the forward thinking team at Dark Age Games with a nifty miniature battle game as well.

Yay! Dark Age produces some of my all-time favorite minis!

They're on my list of best mini companies there is IMHO. (Right next to Wyrd, of course! ;) )

I'm pleased to announce another sponsor for the contest - Privateer Press! Everyone knows Privateer Press by their distinctive line of miniatures and games that seem to be taking the market by storm. They have a great new line that has been anticipated for some time now called 'Hordes'.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/magnificentegos1.jpg (http://www.magnificentegos.com/)

With a name like 'Magnificent Egos' you know you're going to get something good! A ton of miniatures full of character as well as the ever popular spell affects miniatures which have become widely used in miniature RPG games.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/crunchwaffle1.jpg (http://www.crunch-waffle.com/)

A newcomer onto the miniature, Crunch Waffle has made a great showing with their first run of miniatures and have many great concepts soon to be releases. They fill a much needed niche with their diverse ethnic miniatures.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/southernphuk/banners/marsultor1.jpg (http://www.marsultor.com/)

The second time around for Mars Ultor supporting the Wyrd contests, this company has a diverse fantasy line that has a unique look all of its own.
