View Full Version : Why were mini's shipped in a plastic envelope?

Hi, I've ordered lots of Wyrd mini's before, but I just bought another 2 from an online shop. These were shipped in just a cheap small plastic ziploc bag. Is this normal for some Wyrd figs, or did the reseller take them out of the original packaging and repackage them?

Most of the time if you order direct from Wyrd, like most boutique min shops, the miniatures are shipped in just simple micro plastic bags. Usually this is done for two reasons, one, clamshells while they do make the for an impressive display in actual stores, aren't practical for shipping as they tend to take up more space in the packaging, and secondly, as mentioned about them taking up space, adds to the cost of shipping too.

I've gotten them both ways. Doesn't make much difference to me because I take all my minis out of their packaging as soon as I get them anyway.

Goblyn pretty much laid the gist of it out there.
Basically, for store retailers, distributors and conventions, we ship everything out in our clamshells. It is appealing, improves marketing desire and overall just looks good.
When we're shipping out via the internet shop or internet retailers, we ship in small hobby zip bags as it is cheaper by far than the clamshells and the cards and also more cost affective for the retailers for shipping and storage.

I'm a big fan of the little plastic bags for space reasons. I can fit a whole lot more models in my work space in them instead of clamshells.

The sealable bags are more air-tight too - help to slow the metal's oxidizing....

I got my head caught in a small plastic bag once.
It sucked.
I ran around the neighborhood struggling and gasping but people thought it was just performance art and followed me around oohing & aahing.
Luckily I had my Lash Larue pocket knife on me & cut myself free.
