I asked for a few oppinions and screnes seem to vary greatly so I hope the one that I have put up doesn't look too washed out on some peoples monitors, the other ones I liked just looked so dark on my machine :(

Thanks, not sure it shows in the photo but she has a light blue eye shadow on and the patterns are done in a light blue as well.
First mini I have finished since last year so overall I am quite pleased with how she has come out although it does feel as if I have taken a step backwards but that is probably because it is 54mm and not 28mm.

Yeah! I am not a DNF!
That's pretty much all I cared about. I had what I thought was a cool idea almost instantly upon hearing the theme but with Salute and the post-show entire store inventory I haven't had a chance to pick up a paintbrush until this afternoon. very upset I had to waste my idea on a couple hour speed paint but I finished something for the first time in forever - almost since starting the business.

I have 7 DNF's: mcsneed, Ringsnake, Valmont, fieldarchy, Coil, Asmodai1973, and CaffeineBoy. (waghorn41 has 3 pics separately posted).
Which means Darklord, Ben$quig, Morf, Hinton, JakubT, waghorn41 (so you didn't even need all those pics!) and Dragonforge automatically pass to the next round. Congrats on being so intimidating to your opponents that you scared them away!

Coil has a picture up, it's just not in the Round 1 section:
http://wyrd-games.net/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=550
I didn't know if it counted as being an entry or not, so I wasn't sure if it was a DNF.
Vike? Judges? Thoughts on this?
Personally, I'm really not happy about moving to the round because of a DNF. I had this great plan of going into a semi-retirement from mini painting for a while since I feel like my painting skill has really hit a plateau. To be perfectly honest, I haven't been "inspired" or whatever to paint anything for months now. It seems like no matter what I do I just can't get past the point that I'm at and improve.
Anyway, I guess it's on to the next round.

I moved Coils' pic to the right category.. That is a simple mistake, and one that I can hardly blame on him.
I've closed the uploading, so what we got now is the final.
Waghorn, only one photo is allowed, so I'll delete two of them. Since you have no opponent, I'll let you tell me which two to delete....Please PM me.

Guys, a DNF goes in the win column.
Besides it means you were better than your opponent, because you beat the clock and he didn't.
What sucks is when the opponent just vanishes from Wyrd and you never get your prize, but that's a different matter.

I don't think DNFing's so bad in itself but I reckon it's courtious to at least explain why or something. It was important to me to not DNF here but I wore myself out to a frazzle in the process (like 20 hour days with no proper food for the last few days etc)....
I imagine I'm up against the entry that will get the highest score of them all, so not expecting to be in Round 2 but I really want to keep the momentum up so would love to still take part in the `OK, I know I'm crap but can I still play with you grownups?' thing, if it gets set up.... And (as always barring catastrophy) I'm defo up for IPVI!

I won't promise to comment on the entries this round (I didn't in the first, and possibly second, round last time either). This many entries take a LOT of time to judge properly and to comment (and I mean give useful comments) on all entries means I need twice the time. If I can, I will, but I won't promise anything.
When the number of entries is smaller, then I will comment on everything, though.

Moavoamoatu: I've found it pretty useful to check the old IP competitions to see how things work and what seems to go down well. It's good from a research point of view but also the best entertainment in town - some of the best `outside the box' thinking and creativity out there.
I don't watch TV so for me the Wyrd competition galleries are what fills that niche - snacks and browsing... read the comments too and it's also a damn sight more informative and educational than TV likes to claim to be!
IPIV was probably my favourite, but I was following it as it happened, so I suppose that made it more exciting....

I would like to thank everyone who commented on my entry from the bottom of my heart. Unfortunately I don't have my connection back yet, so my internet access is limited and I hope this 'blanket' thank you will be appropriate. It is really heartwarming to have such positive feedback and tips to improve my level as I paint pretty much in seclusion. I find it invaluable that painters of such a high standard would give me such great feedback and pointers, and I shall endeavor to take it all on board and grow as an artist.
I'd also like to thank Thryth for being a fantastic opponent and wish him the best for the future rounds, as well as the organisers of the Iron Painter and Wyrd for hosting this competition.

Just a question to pass the time while awaiting the judges...
Does anyone know what the default sorting of the images is in the IP gallery? The drop-down defaults to filename, but that is not the case. Is something broken in the gallery? I would have assume date-ordering by default.

My votes are in, and I did comment on all entries. The comments come with the scores so you'll have to wait till Vikey presents the scores.

I noticed the order of the images keep changing too. After watching a while, it seem to be by most recently commented on. My images was last for awhile, but as soon as it got a new comment, it moved to first and has been moving back in order since. (I also tested this when I was leaving comments, how they moved around). It's kinda annoying, I missed seeing a few because of this. Can they be set to default to sort by upload date?

I noticed that they moved as I commented on them as well. After the first two or three, I started opening them in a new window. The images can be sorted by upload date (as well as last comment, size, rating, etc), but I don't know if commenting on them would then cause the images to be be moved to the top.
One piece moved while I was judging so I nearly missed it... If I hadn't counted the number of entries I had voted on I would have...
Actually is there a way of stopping the pics from moving? I think it's a new thing. It is very confusing. What others think?

I agree! I vote for anything that creates more work for FF. (Kidding!)

wow, looks like I'm the hold up this round, bad Eric! So for the sake of speed, I can't promise comments this round either, like Anders, but I'll try to get my scores in ASAP.
Basically, if you're going to bribe, you still have time :D

Awesome!
While I am quite content with the judging process to take as long as it needs to, I am also equally eager to know what scores have been given!
It's nice to get an update on timelines.
I'll wait paitently for the 'results' thread... looking forward to it! :)

I'll take a look at the gallery and see what is up. I didn't make the category this time around so its possible that something might have been overlooked or I hit a switch somewhere and it was missed.

In laymens terms,
This is probably supervike's fault....

Nah, was mine. For some reason I had the sub categories set where I was changing them out each time to 'latest' and I had the parent category set to 'most active'. I changed the parent category to most active and then made all the sub categories follow its direction.
Basically, I was doing it ass backwards and should have done that a while back instead of flipping switches each and every time.

Allow Vikey at least the rest of the week to complete the gruelling task of adding our scores! But, don't expect the sums to be correct! :peep:

You've no proof of any of that vanceGamer!
And to the rest of you....
I thought I was immune to smack talk, I mean really, aren't we a bit old for this stuff?
Besides, I'm a delicate flower, you shouldn't bruise me so!

Man...
I popped on to see if SuperVike had done any math yet... and saw no real activity. But noticed that SV was "online!"
Went to his profile, and it told me his current activity was "Creating a new thread in "The Iron Painter.""
Great - so I'll wander about a bit and keep refreshing the forum (assuming, of course, that the "new thread" was going to be the results, and maybe even the new theme).
Well - no new thread. No new post. And now he's offline.

I wouldn't expect anything before 9ish tomorrow morning. It might happen before then, but that seems to be when the scores usually go up, if I remember correctly.

Not really, as you were right...that is usually my dead time at work, so I get my fun stuff done....
But lately, my work is balls to the wall, so I actually had to do this on my own time!!
BASTARDS expecting me to work at work!

yeah, the system is sneeky, if a big post takes longer than 15 minutes to put together, the user will show as offline...in super stealth-posting mode!

1....2....3.... that's how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Iron Painter...
OK- that's only vaguely inappropriate.
