so IF wyrd were to sculpt a special trophy for IP (and for best of show in the normal contests), what should be it...hypothetically speaking of course, just looking for hypothetical ideas about this hypothetical wyrd trophy :)

Maybe some sort of a steampunk robot with a paintbrush, an "iron-painter" :D, you should leave it so that the winner ould paint it him/herself;)

Well Custom Hobby had their mascot produced as a model by Kev White. So it was a Kyrie figure but instead of holding a sword and shield, she has a trophy, paintbrush and pallette. Also they were resin cast and dusted with a bronze, silver or gold powder.
Also Black Scorpion did this with their chef model, and made it holding a trophy.
So perhaps pick the most iconic Wyrd model, and convert it for competitions.
O use the IP mascot, the little fella on the banner (and vikey's avatar.)

Did you get your Kyrie Matty got mine Friday.....
It's actually a nice little piece...
I like the idea of a conversion on an iconic model..but what to choose.. they're all iconic in their own way..I mean the first figure that got me looking was the Baby Kade in Rituals avatar...but then there things like Seamus ,mortimer...and the rest.. hmm Mortimer with a paint brush instead of a shovel and a paint bucket at his feet...
or maybe something totally new..a town cryer or something along those lines...

Aye my Kyrie came last week,it certainly looks better in the flesh than what the pics did.

So ya'll would rather see an iconic character done up special than an honest to goodness trophy or trophy bust?

A bust of one of the iconic characters would be good :D
(Then you could do a range of bust's, of say the fraction leaders or something, for general sale. That would be cool.)

I had started poking around trophy shops and such after the first Iron Painter...I always thought the trophy would be an awesome touch....Something should signify the win, afterall.
The only ones that I could afford would be relatively cheap-ohs, and the 'decent looking' ones were always ungodly spendy.
I won a trophy for a contest over at Alpha Forge a few years back:
http://www.alphaforgegames.com/i//trophy4.jpg
It is basically just a Ink washed version of the companies most Iconic miniature, holding a paintbrush. It also has a nice plaque, and is mounted on some pretty wood.
I think it was pretty cool, and it really means alot to me (i'd never won anything before...r since)but I'm convinced Wyrd could do something like that but....Wyrdier.

I think it should be a Wyrd female bust!
(waiting for vike to chime in)
But I was thinking; female since the first four IP winner are female, and possibly armored in some way to represent the Iron.
Just my 2 cents!

Hee hee I said that on the wish list thread....the faces of the Wyrd minis are just so characterful that busts would be awesome I mean who wouldn't want a Seamus or a morguemaster or a mature nephilim bust.....sweeeet....
I like the one like vike pictured ... Iron Painter has been mentioned a few times but I think it should be more generic so it can cover all comps... personally a bigger draw for me as a prize would be a special only available at competitions figure rather than a trophy but at the same time a lot is to be said for having a trophy..especially a shiny one...
Hm... I'm still undecided on the question of converted existing character vs. specific trophy design, though probably I lean to trophy style. I do like the idea of it having elements like a paint brush or whatever that reference it being for winning something painterly.

I don't know how prohibitive the costs would be, but I think a trophy specific to each comp would be cool. Something like what Vike showed for IP, something for Femme Fatale, something different for Rotten Harvest, etc.
Barring that, I would say something along the lines of a trophy and have a plaque noting which comp they won.

"the iron painter gained his title after being responsible for painting the east-west express locomotive in a single day all by himself.
a legendary brushfighter in the wyrd west, and a valueable mercenary for the gangs of malifaux.
in contrary to most guns-for-hire he doesnt go with the highest bidder, his motives are unknown but he never seems to avoid a steep challenge."
I love that character, (as some may notice, one of my oldest orient goblins is drafted after him.)
especially because he uses an unconventional weapon... going this way with a character miniature you catch two flies at one, a brush is very trophy like but yet by playing the cards right you can make it into a usefull gameplay character as well.
offcourse there is one dilemma to this, giving an original character like that as a price, means only few people have access to it, wich might cause some bitterness (by me for starters ;)) wich is something you avoid by having a converted iconic character, that serves as a trophy only / allready has a common-access equivalent for those that wont win an iron painter contest.
I like the steampunk robot with a paintbrush theory. Not to mention that then you dont have to worry about whether to make the figure male or female. :P

I know it's late, so maybe you've already started producing the trophy/mini, but I would suggest for brand imaging purposes to modify an existing mini. Since the Bishop character is being used as part of the Wyrd logo, maybe use him but holding a mini in his left hand and a paintbrush in his right, or something along those lines.

We're playing with the idea of putting together an official trophy for Wyrd as we run a number of contests. Haven't gotten to it yet as its a large chunk of money which we'll be putting out between sculpting, molding and casting but it is on me 'to do list' soon as we've got a bit more disposable income.
