We here at Wyrd hope that everyone has had a safe and fun holiday and as the end of 2007 approaches and we prepare for 2008, we plan on spending it with family and friends and enjoying this small lull that we've created for ourselves as we relax and refresh our worn out batteries!

Ringing in the New Year in Wyrd style, and because we're just flat out lazy and not available, everything in the Wyrd Webstore is discounted at 20% until the end of the year, at which time the discount will end and won't be back for another year. All orders placed between now and then won't go out until after the first of the year when the postal service picks back up and after we've gotten our fill of lazing about.

From all of us here at Wyrd, we'd like to thank you for your friendship and support in 2007 and wish you a very safe, and fun, new year!

Last day of the sale folks, just a heads up as I won't be bringing anything like this back until the end of next year and no sales during the rest of the year either.

I've enjoyed my relax time and come tomorrow I'll get all these packages put together and out Thursday.

Hope everyone is enjoying their time off and being safe.

Thanks for the sale reminder, I managed to get an order in on time. Including another Rasputina that I don't plan to cover in snot. ;->

As far as being safe...
I've always found New Year's to be something of an artificial holiday with too much pressure to have fun, so sometimes I just try to do off-beat things - I've seen a stage play of Dracula, two Eves spent partying in a bowling alley with a local band playing on lane one, a few other things. Now I'm old and tired by the end of the holiday season, and don't much bother about it at all.

This year I picked up my husband early from work and was driving down the road to go do a little shopping and have a nice dinner before our planned quiet night of games and movies. We pass a commercial truck waiting in the middle lane to turn into a side street. Apparently the driver of said truck waved on the pickup waiting to turn left into our lane. That driver didn't stop in the center lane and confirm, but rather just pulled right into the traffic lane and rammed into the side of our car. As we pulled over to exchange info and all that good stuff, the driver and passenger of the truck swapped places. Probably because the driver was only 14. Luckily there were witnesses to both the accident and the swapping, as they lied about who was driving when the police officer took the report. No one was injured, but both doors and all the electronics on that side of our car are shot, and there's body damage to most of the panels on that side. Ah well, no biggie I know, I just wanted to vent a little about my unplanned New Year's excitement.

At least you two are okay, Wren; good to hear that. Hopefully the guy's insurance pays for all of the damage.

Heh, actually you got the VERY last Rasputina Rhonda. I printed out 40+ orders and had at them last night, working through them as they were ordered and I kept eyeballing the Rasputina box going 'oh boy, oh boy ..'. We're now completely out of Rasputina, Perdita and several others that are darn close, but we managed to get everyones orders filled and product castings will be in our hands by Saturday so we're good to go again.

Sorry to hear about the New Year shenanigans and glad that ya'll are both alright. Not often that you get witnesses and I'm glad you managed this time. I'm assuming their filing charges on the driver and the passenger as he is underage and I would say that ya'll have a very solid footing to roast them and make certain everything is paid for in full. Insurance companies can be a bit of a joke these days IMO.

Also one of the reasons why I don't go ANYWHERE on holidays any longer. I make the family store up on food and goodies and then when it comes down to it, we camp in and make a time of it. Too many idiots out there to take care of or mind after and I had my fill of it about six years back.

That sucks Wren. I'm glad nobody was hurt and that witnesses won't let then get away with their little swapping trick. Hopefully the insurance ponies up the bucks in a timely manner. And if it's in your newspaper, make sure to clip it and show us (or link us if your newspaper is online)!

Oooh, do I smell a story in that statement??!

Not really, just have a distinct dislike for people and idiots, which tend to be one and the same these days. Granted, I make exceptions and meet some very nice people, but on the whole, humanity needs to be drowned in a toilet.

Hows that for public relations ...

Woo hoo, last Rasputina! Sounds like the sale was a good success then?

Thanks for the sympathies everyone! So far so good on getting everything taken care of. I've had a call from the other person's insurance company, so we'll see how that goes tomorrow... I don't know if the cop planned criminal charges, but he was writing the guy up on at least one ticket as we left. I doubt it'll be in the paper here, Knoxville's a 'small town' compared to what I'm used to, but I'm used to 4 mill. ;->

It should be. Even in my little town of Chambersburg, there's a section titled "police Log" which lists all the tickets, accidents, and criminal activities that happened earlier. It might not be right away but your paper probably has a section like that, since it's a matter of public record, like births, deaths, and that stuff.

:)

Knoxville a "small town?" You gotta visit me sometime!

If we're going to talk small towns, the town I live in has about 9,000 people.

I only have two Indian restaurants period to choose from, where I used to have three-four favourites, it's a horribly small town to me! ;->

Hah ... hahhhh .... okay, try living in Florence, TX. Population has almost tripled for some stupid reason, but when I lived there back in the 80's there was something like 350 people, and that spread out across a rather large area.

K-12 was in one building with about 60 kids total (hell, there might have been more, but I sure don't remember seeing them).

They knew my name and unmentionables before I even stepped inside of the town that's how fast gossip traveled. That an only like 25 people actually worked in the town, everyone else had an hour to two hour drive, one way, to make a living. Never did understand why the heck anyone would want to live there. God knows I didn't.

Resturant? What's that. Oh, but they did serve burgers at the gas station/laundromat/general store there.

Ouch, that does sound pretty painful! I spent a summer in a small town (not that small, more like Hinton's town) once. It had its features, but I don't think it'd suit me long term.

Well, honest answers are rare these days.
