Hey all! This is a Reaper Warlord figure I painted after attending the Reaper Artist Con in October using a new technique I learned for painting hair and fur. So please check him out and let me know what you think. Thanks!

He is also up for auction on eBay. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=113526&item=8733459744)

Ah, the other half of Patrick pops up - welcome!

Nice looking miniature, I like the natural looking colors you've chosen for him and how they are blended.

Hi,
The colours on the fur are great, don't like the sculpt but the paintjob is good.

Hi Vicky

Nice painting there. Am I right in assuming the fur is painted using washes.?

Hi Vicky, welcome to the forums here :)

The bright green accent color for the earth tones works well to catch the eye on this piece, nice work all around :)

I saw this mini over on CMoN. Great job. I like it quite a bit! I think I'll bid on it.

Wow! Thanks for the kind welcome and thank you all very much for the wonderful comments! I'd gotten frustrated with the figure I'm currently working on, but this has really encouraged me to keep working on painting.

Oh, and thank you, Supervike, for bidding! Yay!!!

He looks very cool...love the green and natural colors together...now what did you exactly learn at Reapercon, as I'm really curious and perhaps it can be used on Confrontation WOlfen too :)

Thanks, again! Glad you like it!

I took three classes at Reaper Con, one taught by Anne Foerster and the other two by Laszlo Jakusovszky. Laszlo's classes were on blending and NMM, while Anne's class was over painting hair and fur. The process for fur uses a wet in wet technique to simulate a base coat of fur which is then higlighted. I used photo reference to determine color choices and placement on the figure and it works very well! I saw a dramatic improvement right away from the figures I had been doing! I have a wolf pack I started after taking the class using several different color patterns. I need to post them when I get them finished.

Hope this was helpful. Give the technique a try and let me know what you think!

Again, very well done Vicky.

I so wish I could attend a few of these painting classes. Laszlo happens to be one of the studio painters for Wyrd and you should see some stuff from him here soon, and it just kills me to see how some of these folks manage to make a miniature look like a piece of art and I'm on this end screaming and bawling due to my inept attempts.

Hrmmmm ... wonder if that's why I started to sell the buggers instead of paint them ...

I didn't realize Laszlo painted for Wyrd! That's great! But I knew that he and Anne are both very accomplished painters! Their work is fantastic! I only hope I can achieve a small measure of that type of skill someday!

Hey! I'm now the proud owner of this piece.

It is fantastic. Such a subtle paint job. The pics were great, but still doesn't do justice to the real life mini.

I feel a bit bad that I got it for so cheap.

Thanks!!

So do I! Just kidding! :)

I'm so glad you received it okay and are pleased with it!

Again, thank you so much for bidding on it!

Hahaha! I'm just glad you got it in one piece. The priority box was a little snug - so glad to hear it arrived safe.

Thanks for the support!
