Hi all.
I'm a miniature gamer for over 40 years and as my screen name suggest I play almost any game with Zombies. For the past 7 years I've been gaming at Millennium Games and Hobbies in Rochester, NY. And much to my wife's dismay, I've been bringing it home with me a bag of miniatures at a time.
I was one of the gamers Travis showed the miniatures he purchased at GenCon and was immediate captivated. It didn't help much that he chose not to share them with us. I guess, I will just have to buy my own. I can't wait to play the game that includes these minis and would love to be involved in any play testing.

Welcome to Wyrd!
It might take a bit of arm twisting and thumb squeezing, but if you hold him down I'm sure you can snag his goodies!
:D
Thanks for the interest and look forward to seeing you here in the forums. We're moving steadily forward on that playtesting bit.

Hi ZombiEd!
What zombie games are you into? I'm from Pittsburgh, the zombie capital of the world, so I kind of grew up zombified.
I just picked up All Things Zombie and Xtreme Zombie Hunter, but haven't had the chance to try them out yet.

All things Zombies! is a great game and I think the best I've played. It really captures the feel of the George Romero movies. Just when you think you will escape, they swarm in and find a way to get to you just as in the Romero movies. I've actually had people tell me they won't play it any more because they had nightmares after the game.
Others I've got or played are:
Board games
Zombies!!! (including the sequels) from Twilight Creations
Zombie Town
Zombie Plague (Free game that isn't to bad)
Dawn of the Dead (another free game)
All Flesh Must be Eaten (RPG actually)
Video games
Dead Rising (amoung the best)
Resident Evil series
Touch the Dead
House of the Dead
Books
World War Z (Must read for Zombie fans - Brad Pitt bought the movie rights)
Zombie Survival Guide
Plague of the Dead
How is this for a first course of dead?

not a bad list. I've done all of the board/RGps you've mentioned, and can also hhigly recomend Last Night on Earth.
I also have All Wound Up by Twilight Creations, which is kind of silly, but nice zombie themed fun.
Cheapass Games makes some fun and easy to learn zombie games as well:
The Great Brain Robbery (my favorite of their line)
Give Me the Brain
Dead Money
As far as video games go, I have never been very good at anything that couldn't run on a Commodore 64, so I'm way behind you there. I do have Evil Dead: Fistfull of Boomstick for my PS 2. I'd love to buy an x-box 360 solely for the purpose of playing Dead Rising...it looks so cool. Why must the cool things be so expensive?
There's a new board game that some of you zombie fans might want to try. It got good buzz at Gen Con, and I've heard the figures are sculpted by Gael Goumon, though I haven't been able to get info to confirm that as yet. They're larger than the Zombies! figs, pretty much in scale with 28-32mm metal figs. It's called Last Night on Earth. My game group played it a few weeks back, though I wasn't in that game so I can't speak from direct experience. It plays 2-6 players. I think there are always four heros divided amongst up to four hero players, and one or two zombies. Heros play cooperatively and ditto if there are two zombie players. The heroes are classic archetype characters from zombie movies and such. The board has some modularity, and there are different scenarios like one to keep the zombies out of the mansion, another you're looking for the keys to a truck to leave town. It even comes with a CD of atmospheric music. Some more info on Board game Geek. (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/29368)
Mall of Horror is another zombie-themed board game, from Asmodee. I personally didn't like it too much, but others do. You're stuck in a mall being overrun with zombies. Each person has a four character team (screaming chick, little girl, tough guy, guy with a gun) each worth a different value and with slightly different abilities. Like if there are too many screaming chicks in one room extra zombies are attracted there or guy with a gun gets an extra vote in votes. You're trying to keep the highest point value of people alive until the helicopter lands. There's a truck in the parking lot you can raid for stuff, but zombies converge on the parking lot pretty easily. If the zombies outnumber the characters in an area, each character gets a vote on who gets thrown to the zombies. The player who has the most characters in the security office gets a bit of a heads up on where the zombies are going to go next. There's probably some other stuff I'm forgetting, it's been a while since I played it. Board Game Geek info link. (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/16772)
(Note, people on BGG paint to play if they paint at all, don't rag on 'em about the pictures. ;->)

I did play Mall of Horrors but also didn't care much for it which is why I didn't include it. I'll have to check out Last Night on Earth.
I've not played any of the Cheapass Games so I'll have to look them up also.
One video game I forgot about was Land of the Dead (no connection to the movie) Having an XBox with surround sound speakers makes this a really creapy experience. I had the console set up in the basement and was playing it late one night (low lights for added effects) when I heard someone coming down the stairs. Thinking it was my wife or son I turned to see no one there. Going back to the game I realized what I had heard was a zombie from the game coming from behind my character.
Dead Rising though has to be the best out. It was my first game for the 360. It's save mechanism I think is one of the bigest drawbacks but other than that a solid game. The level of difficulty early is pretty high but you have an option that when you die, you keep your experience level at the cost of having to go back to the very beginning of the game. Not a huge problem since it is relatively easy to build up experience making zombie kills easier.

Check out All Things Zombie from Two Hour Wargames. It plays very well as a solo since the rules for Zombies are very straight forward.

Welcome ZombiEd! I'm not that big into zombies but one of my favorite movies is Shaun of the Dead! Plus I've been playing DeadRising on the 360. And as an added bonus, Resident Evil: Extinction comes out on Sept. 21st.

O.K. I have to ask. When you learned to play this game, did you learn from the rule book, or did someone teach you how to play? Beacuse the rulebook itself seems disjointed and confusing. I finally got together with some freinds this past weekend and tried playing, and while I can see how the game might be fun once you understand what's going on, the book itself seems to work against your gaining this understanding.

I have to admit it did take me a while to figure them out. It helped to play a solo game and when I had a problem I would get on the boards and asked for help. After a few games it all began to make sense.
