I go to this site from time to time to get a good laugh, and this month they have a Christmas themed flash cartoon. I laughed, but I have to say, I so totally agree with the message that is being put through with the cartoon.
I couldn't rant like this in public without getting hauled off, but I just had to share this.

Amen!
And thats all I'm gonna say, cause I am pretty sure I could go off on the same issues for hours.

So true.
Our kids celebrated Chinese year of the Rat or something this year at school with a big party. Great I thought I like all the multi cultural stuff. Good for the kids.
Its just a shame they didnt do anything for VE Day.

Cute.
I have to wonder what Santa has to do with religion though.
I mean, who tells their kids that a 4th century Turkish bishop has started dressing up in a red suit, moved to the North Pole and will bring them presents?
The worst thing I've seen lately is the push by the American Humanists to introduce a NEW winter holiday "humanlight" on December 23 because Christmas, Kwanza and Chanukah are too religious.
Sorry, but as an American I find Christmas to be a thoroughly secular holiday already and we don't need a new one.
Did you hear a senator has petitioned to have the Capitol Holiday Tree renamed the Capitol Christmas Tree?
I'm pretty sure the tree is a pre-christian emblem anyway so who really cares what you call it.

I am completely NOT religious, but the thing that kills me is that I really enjoy Christmas, not to celebrate Christs birth or whatever the heck its suppose to be, but because of being with family, etc.
I like the songs - give me some good ol' crooning from the Rat Pack, Nat King Cole, whatever - and yeah, it doesn't bother me a bit that anything mentions god or the like but with this whole political correctness bit, it is just killin' me to see how the schools are removing anything that could get them sued because of some sue happy jackasses who expect us to respect their traditions, but don't care to tollerate anyone elses.
Have a school play and you don't like them singing Silent Night - well hell, just tell your kid not to participate.
Same thing goes with people that bitch and bellyache about 'In God We Trust' on our American money or the Pledge of Allegiance in schools. I never once had a problem with any of that, and believe me, I could rant for hours on organized religion, but these people that make it their goal to stamp out anything of the like just really bothers the hell out of me.

I always had a problem with the pledge. Of course my main problem was pledging to a flag. I'd rather pledge to the constitution. My lawyer oaths have all been to uphold the Constitution and have never mentioned the flag. I only got a problem with the "under god" after I stopped being a religious zelot and learned some history. Most people think that it's always been there, but Eisenhower added it to show that we are different from those "godless commies" in Russia.
So, it's not just religious, it's intentionally political and disparaging of a nationality.
I'm for taking it out, but there's a good article about why, from an atheist point of view, it's good the Supreme Court refused to rule on it.
As to money, the S.Ct. has ruled on that and said basically: it's been there so long and no one reads it anyhow so shut up, it stays.
