View Full Version : IRON PAINTER 4...are you ready?

Thats right paint fans. IP4 is going to be underway.
What can we expect this season?
hmmm tough deadlines, tough themes, tough votes, and most likely a female champion....
Sign up below. I'd like to have the kickoff in a week or two. The number of contestants we get will most likely determine the number of rounds we have...but we've been averaging about 5 rounds....the better you are, the harder it gets!!
So, if you want to motivate yourself to paint more, clear some desk space, or even push yourself as a painter, this is the challenge for you. Please familiarize yourself with the sticky rules if you need to. I'll update them when I get a chance, but they give you the gist of it if you are new to the best little contest on the web!!

With a larger number of judges and a set standard to photography I would be up for the test.
I feel a front and back picture of the entry and a close range should be required. to add to the quality of judging 6- 10 judges should be seated then one judge could not rule out the scores of the other judges. The main flaws to this competition from my standpoint. good fun non the less.

Well I said earlier, I will judge if need be.
Just tell me what to do and when to do it, if need be.

I would really, REALLY love for this to be after the 23rd of September, but I am in regardless (how I may regret saying that!)
Have loads of ideas for UKGD, so may just use Iron painter to try and get some done in 2 weeks and just say b*ll*cks to the theme!

I can easily be persuaded into putting this off for a month, especially if it increases the number of contestants.
Regarding the judging. I think I will revert back to the original 3 judge system. Adding more judges would only dilute the decisions (take that US Supreme Court). Besides, the Iron Chef, which uses the 3 judge format, is the 'basis' for the contest. It seems easy and straight forward.
I cannot see a rule that would force a submitter into certain picture shots. It makes sense for the submitter to present views to help the judges, I would think a front and back shot and a closeup is in the submitters best interest.
It is up to the submitter to provide that, not the rules.
Sorry to sound crass about it, but I don't think either of those are flaws in the event at all....rather I see them as strengths.

I'm out afterall... sorry guys. To bussy to be able to guarantee making deadlines to put it mildly every 2 weeks. Especially if I would advance a few rounds I am pretty damn certain I would have a DNF in a few weeks.
So to be on the safe side... Not joining in this time

Ah, I thought it was time......
However, I agree that another month to bring in more painters is a good thing..
I need to practice several of the new techniques that I learned at GenCon to get them into the painting regimen and useful for Iron Painting.
Until next month.....
Cheers all.

Now wait a minute, didn't Jim postpone this for a bunch of ya'll hollerin' and carrying on about GDUK and now I hear a few of you aren't going to manage anyhow? Now, now ..
I would make the suggestion that the IP go on its scheduled date that Jim comes up with as not everyone is going to be able to participate each and every time, even though we would be ecstatic to have all of your participate each and every time as personally I get a real tickle out of it.
Anyhow, no bribery on my part, I'll just take a cut of Eric's share, but looking forward to seeing who joins up and how this one pans out!
