I'm Stasia and Hinton is my dad. He is a painter and he's getting me started in the hobby. I'm 9 years old and I want to say that I've met Michelle and I look forward to meeting other painters as I learn more about this place and the hobby.

Yes, this is really my daughter. She's been bugging me for months now to get her started here on the forums and I finally decided to give in.
She's working on her first mini and hopefully she'll have it done before too much longer.
I guess from now on I'll have to make sure that I'm on here under my user name and not hers.

Welcome Stasia!
Hrmmm, gives me an excuse to use the 'youngin' filter so that there aren't any issues.

It's cool, Nathan. I keep an eye on things and she doesn't get on the internet - let alone the forums - unless I'm sitting right here.
Of course, it's your place, so it's your decision.

Welcome Stasia, it's good to see a Youngling following their father's footsteps. Give it a year and you'll be a better painter than him I'm sure ;)

Hi there! I was about your age when I started painting back in the 1980s. It is so much easier to learn things when you are young. Plus, you have more time for painting as well. I hope you continue to enjoy the hobby.

Nine is a great age! The last of the single digits!!
My daughters have only a little interest in my hobby. They have both tried painting, but just didn't have the patience for it.
Sometimes, my youngest one just sits with me in my hobby room while I am working on stuff....(it could be because I have a tv in there!)
AND sometimes, they both have to gently remind me to spend some time with them, and not just little metal soldiers....So, remind your dad of that every now and again!!
And welcome!

@Supervike: oh, she does remind me.

That's kind of how Stasia is getting into painting and all of that: she wants to play with the miniatures. She was never really interested in the hobby, but when I told her that there were games that could be played with them, she looked at it in a whole new light.
In fact, I'm currently working on an adventure that she can play that's kind of a cross between D&D and Tomb Raider. I have the "Lara Croft" mini courtesy of Duende and I'm working on getting all of the "tomb" sections done.
I don't know how long she'll be interested in it (she is approaching the teen years and I'm sure her attention will then move to other things), but I'll encourage her as long as she's into it.
Welcome Stasia, I hope you really enjoy sharing this hobby with your dad!

Welcome Stasia!
You and I have a lot in common. My wife says I act like a 9 year old, AND I'm pretty new to this forum too.
I'm sure your dad has already told you, but everyone here is super friendly and helpful, so my advice would be to not be shy, and go ahead and ask people questions...they love to help people out and chat about their hobby!
