I could be down. I have had to sit out on the last few, and it would be nice to get back into one.

To Quote the illustrious Mr. Squarepants:
"I'm ready! I'm ready! I'm ready!"
But yeah, after GenCon would be cool.

I would make the suggestion of setting it up for sign ups now and starting it after GenCon as the Iron Painters can go from anywhere from six weeks to two and a half months to finish depending on the number of participants and then the drop outs that invitably occur.
No matter what, it'll run into the Wyrd Painting Contests, either the Rotten Harvest which will be at the end of September through October (that's a heads up for you lot that like to get started) or it'll hit into the Femme Fatale that'll be end/early of next year.
Me, personally, happy to run them both at the same time as it involves folks from all spectrums and competitive natures so feel free to make the call on that one Jim and we'll facilitate it happily.

That sounds like a good plan. I'm up for it.

Thats a shame mate, I like seeing your work your a great painter.
I would be in but I also want to enter rotten harvest so we will see how that goes.
Ive also decided that as most of the "monkeys with mouths", I like to call them, end up with egg on their face (me included obviously!) Im going for Mr Serious this time. Im taking lessons from the Cindy school of smack talk.
*Dont think they bought it....*

Not I! I take too long to paint anything. Maybe next time, when I can crank things out fast enough without them looking like the new reaper pre-painted plastic crap.

This from the woman that, in her first online contest (and with one entry), took 3rd in the category, 2nd in Best Base and tied for 4th in Best of Show.
Your stuff look like plastic crap? Uh-huh....right....

Just knowing the rules isn't enough. You gotta know what it takes to be in the Iron Painter contest. Let me list a few points out for all you wetnoses out there.
1. Be ready to forsake 2 weeks of your life, multiply that every time you advance, to complete your entry. Remember, say NO to DNF!
*Dunno what's DNF? You should just quit now.*
2. To be called names and told you suck as a painter and that their cat can paint better.
3. To be able to smack/ counter smack talk.
4. All other shit that can happen to you during this time.
1. Be ready to forsake 2 weeks of your life, multiply that every time you advance, to complete your entry. Remember, say NO to DNF!
This is true indeed! Like Stupidcow, I went the full five rounds in IP2, which I think ended up running straight through fall and pretty close to Xmas. (It's two weeks of painting then close to a week for voting and tallying and so on, so almost three weeks for a round.) Then I ended up being one of the despised DNFers on round two of IP3 due to a poorly timed vacation. But as nuts as it can make you, it is also a fantastic opportunity to push your painting, and a load of fun.
I'm very tempted to get in on this one, and I'm still waffling a bit, but right now I'm leaning to not joining. I've got a few commissions yet and some contests coming up I want to enter (like Rotten Harvest honouring my favourite holiday!). But mostly I'm leaning against because I think my husband would prefer not to have loony obssessed with IP wife back just yet as there are some tasks related to a couple of other hobbies/interests he'd like me to help with after I finished being loony obssessed with GenCon wife. (For which I have left not much more than an IP round amount of time sadly, ack!)

I'm still undecided if I rather judge or participate....
I've been kinda really really slacking in the painting department and something like this might give me the kick in the pants I need.

Very true.
Of course, that means that you'll have to spend less time on the computer (and Messenger) in order to get your entries done. Think you can handle that?

For those undecided, don't bother .....
only people who want to get better should apply....
If you are unsure, you are probably only a pewter painter...
If you think you won't win, you are probably only a plastic painter..
After all, Golden Demons are only 9 months away.
IF you survived the smack primer,
sign up. Everyone who enters gets feedback and gets better and even if you don't make it past round one, it is fun and you can make some new friends.
