Arcade for regular posters and forum denizens ...

Hey folks,

As always I'm looking for a way to make the website more interesting for those that visit and participate on the Wyrd forums.

We've taken that a step further by adding an arcade for those of you interested in online games, bored at work or at home, or would like to prove that you are king of the arcade by collecting as many titles as you can; you can even take it a step further by setting up tournaments between various players. You will notice in the forums now that there are new icons added to the postbit legacy (that would be your information on the right above all your posts) for those that have taken the 'Champion Title'. A fun way for you to find out who you need to knock off!

In order to access the arcade, simply follow the new navsite link on the front page to 'Arcade', or you can take this direct link here (http://wyrd-games.net/arcade.php).

This just another way for us to say thank you for choosing to spend some of your time here at Wyrd making it that much more interesting for all of us.

Now in order to keep folks from just signing up and eating up bandwidth all day by playing games, we've set a minimum post amount for folks to be able to enjoy themselves in the arcade, which is currently set at 25 forum posts. That isn't that difficult to come by what with the forum activity and the comments in the photo and contest galleries counting towards your post count.

More games will be added as time or funds allow.

And just to start off some of the fun for the arcade, I've created a tournament for 'Pumpkin Smash'. Rather addicting game. Will take eight players in total to start the tournament.

Just so folks know who are playing but haven't figured it out yet. If you sign up for a tournament, once the slots are filled, you go to view tournament and under your name it will say 'play game'. This way it tracks it for the tournament scoring.

I spent like 45 minutes this morning playing that Apple Hunt game and completed it with a much higher score than Duende's, only to have it not record because when the new window opened it didn't keep me logged in.

The game is cute but too easy and frustratingly slow to watch the damn apple bounce.

Hopefully the software upgrade I got this morning (advanced copy nonetheless) will take care of any of the bugs that were in there, which there were a few.

Now I know a few of you were in there and didn't have the post amount requirements and for that, I'm sorry, but I've set the limit so that you have to have atleast a minimum of 25 posts as frankly, I noticed a number of folks in there that have never bothered to post on the forums or in the galleries yet spent a couple hours in the arcade. Nothing wrong with that other than I would like to see some forum participation as well and frankly, adding the arcade isn't going to do me any favors when it comes to bandwidth and the monthly bill for that.

Oh, pretty much whenever I get around to downloading them and putting them on the site - just takes a bit of chair time but generally I've been putting 8-15 new ones on a night and expect it'll top out around 100-150 games when I'm done.

The 7 deadly sins, the defense of christmas castle and the rock knights don't allow to share scores.

The repair thingy (don't remember the name) is bugged and jams the minute the screen scrolls down past a certain point.

I've tried the 7 sins one. It's interesting and fun, but I haven't figured out most of the sins. I only got sloth and anger.
Also it takes a lot of time.

Seven Sins - go to the bar, that's where you can get your Lust one. Drink enough beer and I expect the unattractive lady will help you out there, be fit at the gym and have a good job and the attractive looking ones will take care of you.

And yes, I can change the colors - I'll look into that tonight and see if I find something suitable. Unfortunately I have to do that color code stuff which means I have to figure out the colors on that first.

I suspected you could get drunk enough to find the ugly one attractive but never had enough cash to try it.
I got strong, but overdid it and became a behemoth.
I got beautiful, but I didn't have good legs (that dance game is hard).

And to obtain Lust you can also give the ladies gallons of booze to get them drunk (and thus make you a hunk...even if you are Olympian :D). Walk outside and then you can pick them up.

Do not enter the tournament I made by the way! The game has no real ending and is too simple. After half an hour it still wasn;t challenging, so don't bother. I had a different idea when I saw it was Castle Defence...the other castle Defence games rock!

As for the sins game, I thought it was great, but it's just that since you can't upload a score it's more of a one-shot deal sort of game, I feel.

Impossible mansion will let you upload your score only if you stretch out longer than sooner (reverse what you have to do in the game and take more time instead of less).

Well, obviously it's based on how fast you can reel them all in. I just keep moving so while I'm reeling in one I'm also moving over towards the next one. That's really the only tip that I can think of.

Hey what's the go with the Arcade games? I'm quite happilly playing the flying shooter game, get a high score of 67 and it won't save it!!!! It'll save the lower scores, but not the higher ones.
Am I doing something wrong here?

Welcome folks. I actually paid for a service for a couple of months in order to get access to 4000 games which I can then put on here, though there are a considerable amount which are pants so they won't be making way here. If you've got a particular style of game that you want me to add (puzzles, mind jinxers, fighting, shooting, sidescrollers, pinball .. etc) let me know and I'll add some more on over the next couple of months. Probably have to start organizing it into categories though.

I thouhgt it would have gone Coin-Op, every dollar spent at Wyrd gives you a dollar credit in the arcade, and all games cost a quarter to play.

Do me a favor folks, the arcade is there for the regulars as well as to encourage folks to post here in the forums as well - for a bit though I've seen a few folks slip just random little 'pffft' posts out there that make you scratch your head or ones you can immediately peg as 'ah, arcade junkie'.

You don't even have to post in the forums so much as there is access as well for posting comments in the galleries. Keep it in mind please.

The Icons for the arcade were becoming a real pain in the layout of the site, particularly when someone posted a single sentence but half the screen was taken up as they happen to be arcade kind/queen and all the icons showed up, or with a glitch, doubled for some reason.

So, icons are gone. Instead I've added that if you go to your member info, or someone else's (click on their avatars or names, etc) it now has a link to Arcade Scores. I'll be fiddling around a bit more as well to see if I can come up with something else to make things a bit more interesting.

Where I've been? Using a replacement laptop for far longer than I intended and didn't want to spend time on numerous forums until I was back on a computer which wasn't slower than a snail on Valium. Yeah, my computer died for good back in September, finally just got a new one.
