I'm a sucker for riddles, even if I suck at them and find them to be a great way to tease the brain to to get people thinking. So, I present a riddle to see if anyone can guess it, and welcome others to do so as well!

- What gets wet when drying?

- What odd number becomes even when beheaded?

the first one baffles me...

My guess at the second would be 9....

I'm awful at them too...but there is something enjoyable about them!!

Still thinking about #2

AH! Yes a towel makes sense....

I chose 9 for the other because if you draw a 9 on a piece of paper (with a straight tail) and the balloon part gets lopped off and falls next to it...then it looks like a 10.....Does that make any sort of sense?

But if it falls in the other direction it becomes 01 which is odd. ;)

Blame Nathan. It's one of the Wyrd avatars. :D

I'll probably only keep it a little while. I like animanted avatars but I'll probably look for something that fits me better.

First one is a towel, that is correct. Any other thoughts on the other one - I'll give out an answer later (its stupid easy, thus making it hard .. if you know what I mean).

Because when you stick "be" in front of it - or, head it with be - it becomes "benign" or "even-tempered". :P

The second one is "seven" I think.

Gah! I think Maya'a right!

Behead "seven" (or remove the first letter) and you have "even"!

Good guesswork!

The trick to that one is that "seven" and "even" don't rhyme, thus not making an immediate connection in your head when reading the question. D'oh! Gotta love the English language.

Heh. Very good Maya!

Alright, here is another one.

- An island and the letter "t" have something in common. What is it?

- Which side of a cow has the most hair?

vincegamer

Both are surrounded by water!

Oh, wait. That makes no sense....

As to the second one, it's the outside. I know because I have had my hand on the inside of a cow and while full of nobbly bits, it wasn't actually hairy.

Maybe it's that both are in the middle of water.... ;)

Eww, I don't want to know....

And ya'll got them fairly easy. Hrmmm, alright, something different.

- I am slim and tall, Many find me desirable and appealing. They touch me and I give a false good feeling. Once I shine in splendor, But only once and then no more. For many I am "to die for". What am I?

- This is as light as a feather, yet no man can hold it for long. What is it?

- A cowboy rides his horse into town on a Friday and then leaves town TWO days later on Friday. How is that possible?

The first one is probably about me.. The second one to if you replace 'man' for 'woman'...

1st one - Callum Rice
2nd one - a £50 note - once the wife finds out you have one of those there is no chance.
3rd one - as Maestro says, how many horses do you know called Friday??!

The horse is called Friday (correct) and the first one is either a cigarette or a cigar, depending on your tastes (correct).

Second one is still open and one I thought would get caught well before the cig one to be honest.

Duende

My guess for the second one is a lit match. (Kinda goes along with the cigarette one...)

But just a guess...

Ding, ding ... Matty guessed it.

What's my number?
I am a three digit number.
My tens digit is five more than my ones digit.
My hundreds digit is eight less than my tens digit.
What number am I?

What is the longest word in the dictionary? (A clue: The answer is the plural form of the word.)

What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and gray when you throw it away?

Ander's got the math one correct.

That just leaves the longest word (hint, it doesn't actually deal in the number of letters used).

SMILES because there's a mile between the "S"s

(although antidisestablishmentarianism is the longest real word in the English language)

Ayup, got it Eastman!

Alrighty, some others since ya'll seem to be knocking these out.

-
A horse travels the same distance every day. Oddly, two of its legs travel 30 miles each day and the other two legs travel nearly 31 miles. It would seem that two of the horse's legs must be one mile ahead of the other two legs, but of course this can't be true. Since the horse is normal, how is this situation possible?

-
King Tut died 120 years after King Eros was born. Their combined ages when they died was 100 years. King Eros died in the year 40 B.C. In what year was King Tut born?

- Heh - now to see who recognizes this one, and answers it.

First think of the person who lives in disguise,
who deals in secrets and tells naught but lies.
Next tell me what's always the last thing to mend,
the middle of the middle and end of the end?
Finally give me the sound often heard
during the search for a hard-to-find word.
Now string them together, and answer me this,
what creature would you be unwilling to kiss?

EldinTux

King tut was born in 260BC

And the horse is on one of those ancient machines that operates an archemedies screw. Hence it is traveling in circles. The outer legs do travel further than the inner ones

Yes, the horse is not travelling in a straight line, its doing either an arc or a circle, therefore the outer legs are going faster than the inner.

Yep, yer right about King Tut - I mis-read the question
