I absolutely love this book from Richard Matheson (http://www.amazon.com/I-Am-Legend-Richard-Matheson/dp/031286504X). It is about the last human survivor on earth who is facing off against hordes of Vampires. The book is very well written and the way it describes the way the human race turned into vampires and the theories about killing them are very nicely done. A recommended book for anyone!
And now they are making a movie of it!

I am really, really, really looking forward to this one! I sure hope they keep the ending the same.

That does look pretty interesting...even if I am not the worlds biggest Will Smith fan....
I should read the book before the movie though!

Absolutely! It's a quick and great read.

There are no quick reads for me!!
It takes me an age to get through a book...but I usually only actually sit down and read once a week or so....and that is either to help me fall asleep or pass time on my throne.

To be honest, that was a crappy preview. And is it anything like the Charleston Heston movie Omega Man?

Looks pretty interesting - I thought Will Smith retired for a bit, least I remember reading it somewhere.
Anyhow, yeah, the preview trailer could have been a bit better to be honest as I would loved to have seen the vampires but it looks pretty cool. Think I'll go and pick up the book on your recommendation and give it a read.
Omega Man wasn't too bad .. he ended up dying in the end of that though didn't he, big spear thrown through him or something, dying in a fountain? Or am I misremembering?

Good thing I like zombie movies more than I dislike Will Smith...more than evens that out :)

yep this Book inspired a whole genre of vampire type books and movies from then to now..including the Omega man ((yep he dies in the fountain))..and the last man on earth ((Vincent Price))..but Will Smith as Nevell...is about as bad as him being cast as James West((Wild Wild West))...dont get me wrong Will has progressed as a actor with his last movie The pursuit of happyness... but Nevell will take some serious in depth study..to me Will doesnt ooze the dementia style of acting you would need to portray him correctly...now if they would have said James Woods..or Willem DaFoe..

Went and saw this tonight - basically a remake of the Omega Man, which is based off some book if I remember correctly. Anyhoo, really good movie, if not a touch screwed up.
Has more than a few 'jump' moments in it though and my wife has decided she doesn't like the dark anymore.

I watched this last night and it was great!
Didn't know they were meant to be vampires, but I don't think they were. They had some vampiric characteristics, but were more ghoul like IMO.
And its meant to have wuite a different ending, but I havn't seen any of the older films or read the book so I wasn't phased by this.
Well worth watching. And fantastic typography. (I think it's a Will Smith thing, The Pursuit of happyness had great Typography aswell.)

From what I've heard from reviewers, "the Last Man on Earth" from 1964 is still the best movie version of the book. For one thing it's the only one with the original ending.

I hadn't seen this one, thanks for letting me in on the name of it. I went and Googled it and it came up with the whole thing under public license to view. Watching it right now (71 minutes long with Vincent Price)!
