Once again it's time to kick things off with another Wyrd Painting Contest. As with last year, we've decided to return to a popular theme; Total Testosterone - 2007!Overwhelming muscles, the need for a big weapon and the underlying instinct to show off for the fairer sex? If the answer is yes, then your miniature is more than qualified for the Total Testosterone painting contest!

The contest will run from June 1st through July 15th and during that time competition entries can be submitted. At the close of the contest, voting will commence for one week where you will be allowed to vote anonymously through the Wyrd forum software as well as leave comments and critique which we have found our previous entrants have greatly enjoyed. After the voting, announcements will be made and prizes sent to the winners, along with the random prizes that we give away with every contest.

Due to the theme, your miniature must be male, and to be more specific, a human or humanoid type. Examples are: Humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, centaurs, male vampires, ogre bulls, WWII cyber-zombies ... etc. The list is rather long and and open, but if you should question it, please contact me and I will give you a final decision upon it.

The specific rules for the contest can be found on the Wyrd Miniatures website on the forums under 'Wyrd Painting Contest: Rules and Information' (http://wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?t=450). I would really like to stress folks to read the rules, as folks tend to miss them for some reason and they end up misunderstanding the contest, the theme or disqualify themselves. The main thing to keep in mind is that all entries are supposed to be anonymous!

The categories for the contest are:

ALTERNATIVE: The men that just don't seem to fit anywhere else in the categories. Cowboys, naval officers or chainsaw wielding postal workers (okay, that last one wasn't funny - really!)

DEADLY DUEL: A diorama with two or more combatants locked in combat or something equally disturbing. Atleast one miniature must be male.

FANTASY: Sword wielding barbarians, magic casting magicians, deadly muscled assassins ready to draw you blood. If the miniature is pure fantasy, this is his category.

SCI-FI: Gun blazing street samurai of the deadly future or weapon wielding aliens dancing a song of death or perhaps a steampunked necromancer plying his disgusting trade. A wide range of miniatures will fit nicely into this category.

MONSTER'S BALL: Due to demand and the fact that we just can't seem to get away from folks want to enter male monsters, we've returned with this category. If its a male, and a monster of any sort (this will include everything from centaurs to wanged demons), then here he goes.
As these contests continue to get bigger and bigger, we've made the decision here at Wyrd to shoulder the responsibility of prize packages solely, with miniatures and gift certificates awarded. This will in no way affect the size or frequency of prizes, only the variety being offered. With the size and frequency of the contests we thought it only fair to take on the burden of goodies.

I am once again looking forward to a great contest as they seem to be getting bigger and better with each passing due to your participation and enthusiastic entries. Thank you! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

Whaa .. me .. sneak something like that in .. no ... well .. maybe.

To answer a few questions, we didn't ask for corporate sponsors this time around as we have gotten more than a few e-mails saying 'we can do this one, but not this one, you do it too often, oh well send you something (and then never get it)' and I thought for the most part, if we're running the contests we might as well take on the burden.

Does this mean you can't enter any miniature into the contest? Nah, of coure not. Enter whatever you want, from whatever manufacturer that you wish. We're still open to that and wish to see the hobby grow, whether from Wyrd Miniatures or other companies.

Now, I've gotten several PM's and e-mails this morning about 'wait, you don't want corporate sponsorship?' and to that I must amend that almost everyone that sponsored these contests was well above and very giving in what they sent and I appreciate the heck out of it. Now what I'm thinking of doing and I'm talking to everyone about it right now, is having manufacturer awards again or special prizes from anyone that wants to support it. I'm not above adding goodies to everyones pot, so a follow up e-mail will be going out to past sponsors and we'll go from there.

So, bottom line, enter the contest, win some goodies - we'll get it taken care of and figured out properly who and how and even I'm sure have a few Manufactuer Awards and Special Awards as well in the very upcoming.

If I find the time I'm in. I still have a puttied, based and primed "miniature" waiting from last year's TT. Let's see if I can finish him now.

But I'd rather do some Wyrd miniatures :).

Yea! A new contest! Thanks Nathan!

I've got a couple of pieces that I started for last year's contest, but didn't finish, so I should be able to get something done for this one. :)

Now to go update the competitions section of my website...

Of course I'll enter and let me just use this post to rant about the fact that preparing the base and miniature (and there is no conversion, by the way) has already taken me more than three days of work in the evening. Meh. Haven'T even touched a brush yet.
And I will do multiple entries this time again. Just wait and see, you're not getting away from my eyesores!

Im being thick but I forgot how you load up to this comp. Can someone give me a link as to how to send in a pic for this? Not that I have a mini ready yet, but I will do soon.

Is this the link you need? I know FF has been tweaking the gallery stuff so I don't know how accurate this thread is anymore.

A thank you oh great ones.

I really should know better by now.

Actually, it is one of the things that I really don't like about the new gallery. Before I could put everything on moderation and it wouldn't show up till I wanted to, and could make it do that per group. Now I have to set the whole damn thing up to moderate which is a major pain in the butt, particularly when members are posting and the Iron Painter is going along as well.

I'm going to have to see about having Michelle's tutorial integrated into the announcements and or something else to make it a bit more 'obvious'.

Sounds like a royal pain in the ass!

Yep, would be a good idea for dunces like me if the instructions were in the announcements for each comp. Cool.
