My son recieved this for his birthday - he may not get it back. As I said I'm experimenting with highlights, but I think I haven't gone far enough. Be interested in feedback.

Highlights are definitely something that many painters, including myself, struggle with constantly. I just never seem to get them high enough or in the right places.

The highlights certainly look like they're heading in the right direction. Maybe bringing them up one more step would really help it "pop".

Highlights are going in the right direction, I think you need some work on the shadows though. Maybe a couple of darker washes to make the recesses and everything in between come out in detail a bit more, then work your highlights back up.
