Looks like it is a good mini for a thunderdome-Mad Max setting.

Squiq,
Unfortunately they aren't making these anmore (though I have some for sale....).
They are for Warzone. They may be target games. I'll have to look at the box when I get home.

I started, WIP posted in gallery, full steam ahead for me. It is a rather involved undertaking thus I am getting my self on schedule. Now if life cooperates...least I am out of school for the time being, so less stress.

you actually are gonna use 5 rackham gargoyles and 2 others? It is only 2 weeks you know. And there I went thinking my idea was quite a task.

Gargoyles, hmmmm.... I think I have a clue as to what TABS base will entail...

I've learned some interesting things researching Mad Max:

In the future, only cars from the 1970s will still run.

The cars aren't as modified as I remembered.

The woman who was the sexy warrior woman in Road Warrior played the blue spiritualist in Farscape.

well here is my (rather advanced) wip. Everything save the base itself (a Valloa's plynth, great stuff this. It's the biggest of the lot) and GW sand is scratch build from Daz clay (sculpted and cut/etched) . The portal ruin has a total hight of 80mm. The fresco is done on the unsealed clay (sucks paint up like crazy at the touch... like painting a sponge ;) ). The whole idea is to get the pastelly soft colour (instead of a smooth vibrant coloured finish) Fresco feel.

I have the definite feeling I´ve seen this angel before ...

yup, artwork from the Tempest release of Magic: TG.

Looks cool!

Give that man a drink :D. :congrats:

Yes Selenia the artwork from Magic was the inspiration. I did turn she into a he and changed the clothes (lost a lot of them and the helmet and armour). But the general layout and pose remained. I loved the pose and it was perfect for the wall I had created as it allowed me to show the wing too and the angel itself in a relative small space without it looking forced into a to small room wanting to show to much. All my other sketched had that problem. So i went searching for poses and fell for that one.

Now to find that monk. Where did i leave him? i swear i bought him last year (liked his face)

This round looks to be the toughest (no offense to my previous opponents).
People are going all out.
Oh well, I may still have a chance.
I've decided to give my guy a regular 28mm gaming base.

Damn! You all are bringing out the big guns!!

orkydave
05-08-2007, 04:29 PM
Never mind the big guns vikey, I'd say that they have pushed the red button on this round!!!

Some fantastic looking WIP's and I will be eagerley awaiting the finished results (and very relieved thta I am out, and even more relieved that I will not have to face TAB for a 3rd time!)

Speaking of which, are you OK to wait a week or so for your package to be posted out Tracey? I am a bit skint ATM and as its a double or quits prize is gonna cost a bit more on postage! LOL!

Also, is that a Tattoo'ed wedding ring? that is a fantastic idea, Especially given your line of work.

TAB Studio
05-09-2007, 01:42 AM
Hey no problem I would rather you just hold the package till you hit pay dirt someday. Please do not worry and do not short change anything at your home, I have plenty minis here to paint and you were so much fun tis for you that I am here now. Its not all about the minis orky, hell I am after that darn paint set :D

Yep, my "ring" is Todd's name in Lotr elven, it was his idea and he went first. I gave a thirty day trial and did it a month later. It does help with not losing the ring (or finger by machinery) but I would not do it again. Hurt like hades!

I'm also sticking to the original square base for my entry so not bringing out the big guns this time. Its also painted but I'm gonna do a few tweaks to it before I post a wip.

Btw nice ink there Tracey.

Everything seems to be coming off nicely. I'm just a little concern about the size. Though the focus this round is basework, I feel that it's also important that you consider the models fitting into it. Judging from the size and the 2 figures that you are planning to use, the gargoyles are only part of the wall deco, you'll end up with lots of open spaces, unless you have more surprises in store.

Still its up to the judges to decide how they would interpret and rate it. I'm just voicing out my point of view here.

More in store, more in store....oh yeah I sure do.

I have had this in my head for over a year the minis have been sitting here waiting for me ... it is adapting to the reality I face (like they only make gargoyles looking one direction) but the vision is still developing nicely, maybe even improved on what my brain envisioned previous, we shall see after it is all said and done. Still have lots of painting carving and maybe wood working.
(Saying this, I realize, .... I am so lucky my family is into minis and such, or they may deny me the time I spend having such fun. Instead we all join at the table and create.)

I genuinely thank you Mr. Cow for your input I will keep you posted.

I uploaded my entry in the gallery. I might add another monk, but that is doubtfull to happen before saturday. I'm not even sure if it needs another one. I haven't gotten him in the mail yet.

Just to clarify an issue. Is there a restriction on the file size for IP submissions? I always thought there is but I might be wrong. I've been reducing my photos to below 250kb and having some issues with compression all this time.

If the rule doesn't apply here I do like to appeal for a chance to upload another photo.

It's pass midnight here this moment so I'll just go ahead and upload the photo. In any case its not acceptable kindly do the judging based on the 1st submission.

I posted a picture in the WIP gallery.
It's a picture I used as a reference when painting the truck.
To be honest I didn't think about smashing the glass because the glass was intact in all of my reference pictures.

Oh, the truck in the ref was probably originally red but I went for a blue truck the color of an old rusty Chevy my dad owned.
