After a talent laden round 3, only four have advanced into the SEMI-FINALS!


First off, the matchups:

Yup, you guessed it, this round is all about the base. Not that you can skimp on the mini, but how cool can the base be? It can be as big or little as you decide, but remember, its all about pleasing our judges.

vincegaMer is no stranger to the Semi-finals, he's been here before, but can he hold off the power of the juggernaut, Tab Studio?

Stupidcow milked his way into the semi-finals by ignoring the theme and STILL advancing. Can he do that again against the unstoppable Netherlander (are you people called Dutch or what?) cdukino?

Will we have an All-Male Final? Or girl on girl action (bwom chicka bwom bwom)...maybe one of each to keep everyone happy? There is a MANLY MAN prize at stake as well....Duende will fill you in on that.

2 of our semi finallists have already demonstrated that they can really go to town on bases, so now that they are forced to for the theme should produce some cracking results!

Yes, because otherwise it's not a base, but just "terrain".


There is a MANLY MAN prize at stake as well....Duende will fill you in on that.

The idea for this got started in the original Iron Painter III (http://wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?t=1957) thread around Post #103 (http://www.wyrd-games.net/showpost.php?p=20898&postcount=103) when our young upstanding men painters were trying to prove their.. um.. manliness (I suppose that could be a way to say it ;)), whether by shoe size, IQ size.. whatever. So I put together a Manly Man prize package for the male painter who makes it farthest in the competition (I didn't say win, just the farthest, since we all know, women have the highest iron content. Right? Skya, Wren, Tracy and Cindy? :D) This consists of a "Bragging Rights" certificate and some other goodies selected to appeal to the male mind.
So at this point, this prize will go to either Stupidcow or vincegamer, whichever either make it to the next round, or if both lose in this round, whoever gets the highest score. If both somehow magically make it to the final round, then it goes to overall winner. So good luck, men, you're gonna need it!

Don't sell yourself short Vince!

First off, the stands for your Packer fan were great! The little cup for your OSL Dwarf, and there is always the bowling alley....

I would think this was playing to one of your strong suits!!

Well, I gotta admit, when NMM was the theme I had only tried it once before, and when OSL was the theme I had never ever tried OSL before and I trounced everyone that round, so I won't give up yet.

Without even noticing we into the semi final round. That's felt rather fast compared to last season. Interesting theme this round btw, got a few ideas in my mind just gonna see what works this weekend.

Oooo, interesting. I'll definitely be watching how this one progresses. I think all of the contestants are very strong in this category in different ways.

cool theme. I should have fun with this one. I have a nice idea. Will mean sculpting a whole base as i have nothing remotely usefull for my idea.

I am going to do a big base, not a gaming base. That's unusual for me. I usually like to keep the base small, but I have a Mad Max inspired idea.
I haven't decided on the mini yet but I've narrowed it to 2.

I'm going for big base as well. Started sculpting it. Hopefully i will have that part done this weekens so i can start painting.

Ahh, here it is, the line up for the semis. Cracking theme, looks like it would be cool. Especially with so many great basers left in the comp. I would have liked to see Matt in the semi final with this theme as his bases are really taking off at the moment. And Vincegamer, dont put yourself down, some of your bases have been off the wall!
