Hello Paint Fans and welcome to the results phase of round one. We have lots of new faces, even in the judging ranks. We also have lots of familar faces, but we continued on despite that.

A big thanks to your judges is in order. It ALOT of work having to go through each one and come up with scores and comments...they all did wonderfully well (even though I think some were tough as nails)

Without further ado, here are the RESULTS...winners are in GREEN....Losers please make arrangements to send off your 'fee'.

Shown are the actual overall scores, I will have a more complete posting a bit later, showing more detailed scoring and judges comments.

If your name is in GREEN, you are advancing.

We have our first IRON PAINTER Tie! I have planned for such a contingentcy though....our judges will decide which Iron Painter advances. I will PM them and each will give me a name of the two...Since we have 4 judges, obviously this can still end in a tie, if that is the case, I will flip a coin. (i really want to be impartial).

ALSO...we do have one 'HEY GIVE ME ANOTHER CHANCE' award that goes to the HIGHEST SCORING NON WINNER....Which goes to TAB STUDIOS--congrats you will also be advancing!!

Congrats to the winners! Stay tuned for the tie breaker!!

Thanks folks!

Hope the judges can decide a clear cut winner on the tiebreaker too, I would hate to see it decided on a coin flip.

Surprises?

For me (beware I am sharing personal opinions....I am just being a 'commentator' here....please take NO offense to this)

I think the THEME became harder than it really was. Some chose to almost completly ignore the theme (shame on you!) some's interpretation seemed 'weak'. The theme was a bit confusing, granted, but overall I am surprised on how poorly the theme was interpreted--t . And I have to wonder if that was because the theme was so vague? Of course I would have never said this before the judging.

I was surprised Wren's scored as well as it did. I just didn't 'get' the mini...but it was still fantastically painted and the judges obviously thought so too.

Matty1001...agian very nicely painted, but I think he took a risk with the theme...it seemed to work out for him!

Malebolgia...I absolutely loved his mini, but it was tough to overcome Cindy's record breaking score.

Mosch---no offense man, but I thought you were done in this round....you certainly proved me wrong!!

LavronYor and vincegamer matchup....i thought this was going to be much closer than it was....Still....having rivalries in this contest makes it all the cooler.

I NOW have 3 of the FOUR judges with their response to the RED vs. IFF tie.....2 have chosen one, one the other.....so the LAST judge will either tie it again, or settle it for us.....

I really didn't know how to interpret the theme, it was a case of all the flesh or part of the flesh. But its all down to the judges really which is why its so subjective, its hard to please them all lol
But I can't wait to see the break down of scores to see how well i really did.

EricJ
03-22-2007, 06:04 PM
yeah, the theme through me off also, I interpreted it as anything other than normal flesh tones...but then it seems by other peoples interpretations that I could have taken a troll, used flesh tones and to them it would have better fit the theme...So what I'm thinking most people thought is a fleshtone they wouldn't expect on that sculpt? Oh well I only got one thing to say really....

Who's shoddy now! :D

Thanks for the battle Cal! you made it fun :)

I actually had this idea for the theme I could never finish in time. I wanted to have a painting goblin accidentaly dropping his bucket of paint on a very argy now paint covered giant. Annoying paintballing gobbos would have worke for this to, be it that they would be more then slightly suicidal. I even had some miniatures picked out for this. But it ment atleast 2 miniatures. A very elaborate base and quite a bit of converting. So after I came down to earth from my brainstorm session and visuallising I managed to actually realistically look at just how much work it would be. So I did Nemain instead.

The tie has been broken.

Unfortunatly though it had to be with a coin flip....the judges split 2-2 (oddly enough 2 ladies voted for Red, the two gentlemen voted for Iff)

So I flipped a coin:

IFF will be advancing. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Sorry to Red for having to lose that way...

In the future, I suggest that if there is a TIE...the person with the highest in THEME will advance. If that is still tied, then the judges vote, if not decided then a final coin toss will determine it.

Anyhow, CONGRATULATIONS...

Me yet again....HERE are the actual votes and some comments from each of our esteemed judges....My math has been in question before, so feel free to double check it and report to me any inaccuaracies....I did my best to check them.

SKYA
I did find myself having a hard time deciding on how to judge this theme. I've decided to do judge it based upon a combination of how well a non-human skintone color feels like it fits the miniature and how different the skin tone is from what the creature might normally look like even if it's funky looking to start. So if you're curious here's my judging standards that I worked out.

Theme
1 - umm where?
2 - ok I can see an attempt but it didnt make it across
3 - yeah i see where you're going but I disagree with the interpretation, or the idea is good but just looks wrong on the mini
4 - works well with the mini, but either that's the normal color of whatever it is, or I'm not so sure that's "flesh."
5 - spot on. both oddly colored from "normal" and really works on the mini

Tech
1 - not fully painted, very sloppy
2 - highlight and shadow, but no blending, or quick but clean basecoot and wash
3 - solid work could use some cleaning up but definately presentable
4 - really nice, could maybe use a bit more something to really have that oomf to it
5 - friggin sweet

Overall
entirely subjective mix of theme and "ooo that's cool" effect

DUENDE
First of all, I'd like to explain my viewpoint of the theme. I felt that a mini painted with "Flesh of a Different Color" should surprise me in some way with whatever flesh coloring was chosen. Saying "well, since I've never seen a real this or that, it means that any color is different." I don't agree, being that even if such creatures aren't real, there is a general expectation of what they would look like. For example, if somebody said to imagine a realistic werewolf, most likely you think of it in a shade of gray or brown, possibly even black or white, considering wolves also come in those colors. So I was looking for the unexpected, the unusual ..... something of a different color.

Now to my scoring (in alphabetical order):

Beelzebrush
Theme: 2
Technical: 4.5
Overall: 8
Very beautiful. But a green goblin just isn't what I would think of as being different. But the colors are great, I love the red of her dress and the bit on the sandal. The basing is impressive as well with the mossy stones.

Callumrice
Theme: 5
Technical: 4
Overall: 7.5
Glowing green and blue zombies! I love it! I saw the head dangling from the hand right away, when I saw the headless one, I immediatley looked for his head. I like that the headless body is "wandering" off of the scene too. My only nit-pick is I think the bangles on th arm and the bracer on Headless should be a bit more solid-looking.

cdukino
Theme: 4.5
Technical: 5
Overall: 9.5
Well, since I wasn't sure if she was a Nac Mac Feegle or Nac Mac Feegleish, I split the difference. Excellent job as usual, Cindy. Of course the base is beautiful! I still stare at that every time I look at this.

DrEvilmonki
Theme: 3
Technical: 4
Overall: 7.5
Good solid paintjob, although I'm not really sure how well he fits the theme as he's a black with white paint and black could be perfectly feasible for a beastly color. I do like the overall look to him, very menacing, and I like the axes as well. Good work.

EricJ
Theme: 2
Technical: 5
Overall: 9.5
Excellently done freehand, although I don't see gray as being an unusual color for a troll. I really like the red of his clothes and of couse, that amount of freehand in two weeks is amazing. Great job!

Henrix
Theme: 4.5
Technical: 3.5
Overall: 7
I do like his colors, excellent use of the theme, although they appear to need a bit more shading and highlighting. I like the changeover of color in the misty(?)/blurred area between his arm and loincloth. I think the blade could use a little more "shine" as well.

Hollywood
Theme: 1
Technical: 3
Overall: 6.5
Nicely painted but not really a color that would be unexpected on a werewolf. The base is bland, but the mini itself is well-done just not my idea of theme-fitting.

Iff
Theme: 3.5
Technical: 3
Overall: 7
I'm kinda iffy on the theme use, since this is now the second dark-skinned dwarf I've seen and his coloring is similair to how drow are colored. I do like the scene however, the lizard is very cute, even if a little flat, but i really like the purples and metallics of this.

Jubilee
Theme: 5
Technical:4.5
Overall: 8
Great job on this mini. Out of curosity, I did a brief goblin search at CMON to see if there were any goblins there painted in anything else than green, and I did find a grayish-purple one, but it was supposed to be a goblin-zombie. My only problem is her hair, it seems a bit over-highlighted, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be black, or gray, or maybe voilet? I do like the turquoise dress, I think it goes well with her skin.

LavronYor
Theme: 5
Technical: 3
Overall: 6.5
I saw the bit of senmm on the sword hilt but thought there should be a little blue in the blade as well. I think you nailed the theme excellently but the colors on her wings and clothes look a bit flat. I like the colors though.

Maestro
Theme: 3
Technical: 4
Overall: 8
Nice yellowy-green although a putrescent-colored zombie isn't anything I'd consider particularily unusual. The scytheblade is great though! And I like the bit of water on the base and the orangy, glowy eyes.

Malebolgia
Theme: 5
Technical: 4
Overall: 8.5
Now this is what I was thinking of when it come to theme. The more outlandish, the better in my book. Even the ground is unusual and all of it is excellently painted. I love his creepy eyes and contrasting colors of his skin and hair. Great job!

matty1001
Theme: 2.5
Technical: 4
Overall: 7.5
It doesn't really fit my idea of the theme, and at first I thought he's been hit in the face with a snowball :D. The paintjob is well done and I really like the snow base and tree. My only nit-pick about that is that there's no footprints leading to where he's standing, and there ought to be a disturbance on the part that he just walked over.

Mosch
Theme: 3.5
Technical: 3
Overall: 6
The picture seems a bit dark for the background, and I also thought the eggs looks like it's glowing with OSL around it. The troll is good but lacking in detail to make him really "pop".

orkydave
Theme: 3
Technical: 3
Overall: 7
Nicely done dwarf, I don't often see dark-colored dwarves but it doesn't really strike me are real different. I'm more a fan of "outlandish" but that's just personal preference. It does look like it could use more highlighting and got a little too glossy on the varnishing stage. Nice action pose.

Queeny
Theme: 3
Technical: 4
Overall: 7
I was of a split mind over the use of theme on this one. Green skin is certainly different for an elf, but for a sea-elf??? Green is what I consider an "ocean-y" color. I do like the eyes, kinda like a shark's. Well-painted, the green is great although his accessories are a bit bland.

red
Theme: 5
Technical: 2.5
Overall: 6.5
Excellent use of theme and nice choice of colors but the coloring seems uneven, as has been siad by others already. The base could use a little more "omph" as well. But overall, nice work.

Sculpta the Squig
Theme: 4
Technical: 3
Overall: 7
I had a little trouble seeing what he was in the pictures, he looks like a difficult little bugger to get a good angle on. I like the skin color choice and the blade is well done but he's needing something more to really make him "pop".

sjakkie
Theme: 4
Technical: 2.5
Overall: 6.5
I like the green for this mini but the picture makes it hard to really see much else with clarity. The base needs to be finished Looks like it couldv'e been a great contender with just a little more work on those.

Stupidcow
Theme: 4.5
Technical: 4
Overall: 9
Excellent job! I'm not overly familiar with how Rackham dwarves differ from any others but this is the first that I can recall with this kind of coloring (almost I did see some similiar ones cropping up recently at cmon, but not as well-painted). I also really like the brown gargoyles with the blue tongues, they're kinda cute. ;) Supurb!

TAB Studio
Theme: 4
Technical: 5
Overall: 8.5
I'd have to agree with Skya's comment that she doesn't really strike me as being made from fire but rather lit by it. The overall scene is excellent and amazing that you did it in such a short time. Very good.

Thryth
Theme: 3.5
Technical: 4
Overall: 8
I like his coloring, very well done, although greens and blues are kinda fitting for a water creature. I liek the water base but I think the green is too bright for it. And the troll's feet are certainly very clean for him stomping around a swamp.

vincegamer
Theme: 4.5
Technical: 5
Overall: 9
Great scene! Is he the only Packer fan around? Can always count on vince for something memorable and different. Great job!

Wren
Theme: 5
Technical: 4
Overall: 8.5
Nice choice of color for her, it was a pleasant surprise. I wouldv'e liked to have seen something to break the color a bit though, she seems rather monotone. Her hair is my favorite part I really like teh transition. I think the water of the base could be more '"frothy" looking.

Xenon Wulf
Theme: 3.5
Technical: 2.5
Overall: 6
The picture quality is really hurting this mini since much of it is blurred. I like the color, but since she is an "ice queen" a blue really wasn't surprising. I would have liked to be able to see teh entire mini too and the picture cuts off her sword.

zeke
Theme: 4.5
Technical: 3
Overall: 6.5
Good job with the theme interpretation. I like the two different skin tones sewn together. Too bad the dark photo is hiding a lot of the finer details It seems like a good solid paintjob, but the picture is hurting it.

Whew! Good job everybody! Good luck to all!

Ritual

Ok... here's my votes... and comments! I did the comments and the votes together to save me some time.

Malebolgia:
Comment: I like the idea with a bright green "toxic" zombie. Very eye-catching! Coupled with good looking NMM blades and a freaky-coloured swamp (?) base this is a great looking piece! The red, glowing eyes is a nice touch.
Theme: 4
Technique: 4
Overall: 8

Sculpta the squig:
Comment: Cool looking mini! Nice colours, good looking base and very well done steel NMM. About the theme... the mini has a "strange" skin colour, for sure, but at the same time it's a strange mini and nothing says this type of creature doesn't have this skin colour normally. I think you could have done more to follow the theme than just pick a non-human mini and paint it a funky colour.
Theme: 3
Technique: 3.5
Overall: 7

Henrix:
Comment: I'm not sure why he's blue and some sort of idea behind the choice of skin colour would have been nice. But, it is different at least. Nice clean painting, although some areas could use a bit more depth. I like how you've treated the "swirly and insubstantial" areas. Bra jobbat! :)
Theme: 3
Technique: 3
Overall: 6.5

Sjakkie:
Comment: Out-of-the-ordinary, for whom? ;) For a forest type creature, green skin seems fairly ordinary. The painting of the skin looks good. I like the colour and the highlights. The stone he's sitting on is a bit rough, though, and the fur is mostly hidden from view (more views would have been nice). Also, the lack of basing pulls this down a bit, but it's nevertheless a great looking little mini.
Theme: 3
Technique: 3
Overall: 5

Iff:
Comment: Good idea about an "underground" dwarf with muddy looking skin. It's also a funny looking scene. Nice, clean painting, although some areas could be highlighted a bit further. The base is also on the simple side...
Theme: 3.5
Technique: 3.5
Overall: 7

Xenon Wulf:
Comment: Too bad the photo is not better... It looks a bit rough in the blending and I can't say if it's due to the photo or the paintjob. The photo is all I have to go after, though... Also, the different areas could be a bit better defined, particularly in the lighter areas, by some darklining or deep shading just between different parts. But, the piece has a good balance between light and dark areas and it has good, vibrant colours. The skin colour is, of course, different than human, but I lack some idea behind it.
Theme: 3
Technique: 2.5
Overall: 5

Wren:
Comment: Cool idea of using a tropical fish for inspiration of this sea creature. The colour scheme looks extremely stylish and I like how smooth you've made everything look. The hair and the bright blue wave complements the colour of the skin very nicely. The face is the weakes part here or the eyes, in particular. The face and eyes are usually the focal point of a mini, but here they look almost anonymous.
Theme: 4
Technique: 4
Overall: 8.5

EricJ:
Comment: Very, very cool looking troll! The freehand scales on the skin looks really great. The leather straps and red cloth also looks great. The metallics and the fur looks a little less great, but still good. However, the theme ingredient is pretty weak here, I must say. Trolls are supposedly stone cretures and this is basically the colour they ought to be.
Theme: 2
Technique: 5
Overall: 9

Thryth:
Comment: A very bright and clean looking mini! You've put a lot of thought into chosing colours for this mini (although there is no real "idea" behind why the troll is coloured the way it is...). Your paintjob is clean and quite smooth and it has a good balance of light and dark areas. Maybe the base is a bit too bright and colourful, but it suits the mini somehow.
Theme: 3.5
Technique: 3
Overall: 7

Zeke:
Comment: I like the idea with two different skin colours on the same mini. A nice take on the theme! The paintjob is good alltogether. There's lots of room for improvement, but everything looks nice and coherent.
Theme: 4
Technique: 3
Overall: 6

Beelzebrush:
Comment: Gorgeous mini! The red seems a bit poorly blended (but I also know how difficult red is to photograph) but otherwise this mini looks stunning. The base is particularly nice! I do question the theme ingredient however... as someone pointed out, this is the way most people paint the skin on this particular mini. Oh, and more angles would have been appreciated.
Theme: 2
Technique: 4.5
Overall: 9

TAB Studio:
Comment: A gorgeous and very ambitious mini! I like the ambiguousness here... is she a fire elemental or is she coloured by fire? This is a very well painted mini and the OSL effect works very nicely. The fire, however, is a problematic area (as flames always are, more or less). It's not apparent that it IS fire unless you read the description. It has a funny looking green colour, the shapes of the flames are a bit hard to read and it seems less bright than the legs of the angel. The fire, as the light source, ought to be the brightest part of the scene.
Theme: 4
Technique: 4
Overall: 8.5

LavronYor:
Comment: Again, I don't know why the angel has the colour she has... But, it's very nicely painted! It's a very vivid and eyecatching colour scheme. The paintjob seems smooth and clean and it's very nicely "lit". Some areas could have used a bit more depth, like the rope and some of the feathers... a bit more contrast between light and dark. One thing that looks out of place is the chrome detail on the sword hilt. It looks better on the smaller details on the clothing.
Theme: 3
Technique: 3.5
Overall: 7

Mosch:
Comment: Funny scene! :) Trolls reproducing by laying eggs!?!? That would be hillarious!! I think the theme ingredient is quite poor here... Trolls usually are either green or stone coloured so this doesn't strike me as that different for a troll. The painting, however, is very good, especially considering the problems you had with the paint. Some spots on the skin could have been blended better, but I fully understand that you were fed up with it. The brown areas look really nice and the face has lots of character. Well done!
Theme: 2
Technique: 3
Overall: 6.5

DrEvilmonki:
Comment: Great idea with the voodoo ritual skin paint. The black looks a bit flat, but the rest looks very nicely painted, however. The base rim looks a bit untidy, which is a shame.
Theme: 4
Technique: 3.5
Overall: 7.5

vincegamer:
Comment: Really great, and unusual (as where used to from you, by now) idea! The only thing that drags it down a bit is the presence of the sword scabbard, allthough you've done your best to "explain" that! ;) Really nice paintjob too. The yellow, which is a difficult colour, looks really nice.
Theme: 5
Technique: 3.5
Overall: 8

Krom... I mean Red:
Comment: Once again, I've no reall idea why she has this skin colour. But, painting wise this is great. Good vibrant colours and the base looks very stylish in all its simplicity. The blendings aren't great, but it's done in a coherent and well executed style. The light/dark balance works very nicely.
Theme: 3
Technique: 3.5
Overall: 7

Hollywood:
Comment: The theme ingredient seems quite weak here. Dark grey seems quite ordinary for a werewolf. It's nicely painted though. Simple, but well done. I really like the face and the piercing eyes. The light brown rags could have been done a bit more neatly though. The base doesn't do very much for me either.
Theme: 2
Technique: 3.5
Overall: 6

callumrice:
Comment: Neon zombies? Yep, that's different! :D And they're glowing too! The OSL works pretty well for the most part, but in places (like on the blue zombie's spear or on the ground beneath it) less so.
Theme: 4.5
Technique: 3.5
Overall: 7

orkydave:
Comment: Clever idea about the choice of skin colour. Just painting him with black skin would have been a less clever idea, but the pun that inspired the choice makes it much better. Solid paintjob too. Very good work!
Theme: 4
Technique: 3.5
Overall: 7.5

Stupidcow:
Comment: Great looking mini! The horns, blade and robe in paricular are really striking. I'm a bit sceptical about the theme, though... Sure, it's a freaky colour scheme... but you've chosen a Mid-Nor mini, that usually have freaky looking skin, just because of that...
Theme: 3
Technique: 4
Overall: 8.5

Maestro:
Comment: I love the comic styled paintjob here. Really great stuff! Theme wise... not that different for a zombie I think.
Theme: 2.5
Technique: 4
Overall: 8

Queeny:
Comment: Not sure why the green (except that you wanted to practice green... ;)) but at least it seems a bit different for a sea creature. And I agree with you... it is very nicely painted too so congratulations on that. All in all a very good looking mini.
Theme: 3
Technique: 3.5

Comment: Interesting take on the theme... and fairly well pulled off too. I'm not sure about the light reflection on his staff, but the rest of the OSL effect looks convincing enough. I like the setting too! Well done, alltogether!

Comment: Stunning piece and I'm really in awe of how quickly you came up with something this good! I buy the explanation of the blue skin, her being a McFeegle (and I also love those guys :D), but she seems quite big for a McFeegle, doesn't she? Or is it really tiny ferns and bushes? ;) Technique wise this is stunning! And the base... excellent!

Congratulations to the winners...and especially to my opponent Cindy! It's no shame to loose from the best painter in this round and I am happy with my final score (the same as Maestro too).
To be honest, at fist I thought the theme sucked balls :D. But later I liked it a lot and it got me thinking in all kinds of directions, but two weeks isn't a lot for wild and extravagant ideas. But then again, this is Iron Painter.

Cindy, I will bug you on MSN for your free mini. Would you fancy a Mabel? :D

Wow, it certainly feel weird to make it through to the next round on a coin flip...

As for the theme: I think it's inevitable that a theme (any theme) will be interpreted differently by different people. Of course, that goes for contestants and judges alike. For me, part of the fun is seeing just how everyone tried to fit in the theme into their entry.

I haven't finished leaving comments on all of the other entries. Wil try to do so over the next couple of days.

A hearty round of applause to all of the entrants. I do apologize for not being able to comment on the entries (life has taken a turn), but I did look through them all and I was very impressed by what I saw. Kinda glad I didn't enter since I'd be gone in the first round.

Congrats to all of the winners and good luck in the next round.

Wow i did better in the theme than I expected, I thought i would get 1-2 from all the judges, this really shows how subjective it can be.

Plus iv managed to get a higher score than my IP2 entry so im chuffed with that! It shows i have improved!

Congrats to those who made it thru to rd2. As for those who didn't make it I'm sure you had loads of fun too. To my opponent Sculpta, sorry I had to do it again but that's what Iron Painter is about, kick your opponent's arse. Still I got my own arse kicked twice already hehe.

The scores did surprise me on a couple of entries and more so that I managed to finish in the top 3. I'm thankful to Skya for loving my entry. I also expected some judges might argue that even though the weird coloured skin is different, it's how a mid nor dwarf might look. It's not easy to please ALL the judges.

I'm still sick, so I apologize in advance if I'm not so much with the sense-making here or in the comments I finally posted on all the entries. Congrats to everyone! The entries were very interesting and well-done, and as is always true with IP, just finishing an entry is worthy of congratulations. I'm pretty surprised to have made it through this first round, when I saw TAB's gorgeous, elaborate scene, I figured that was the end of my little goldfish girl. I'm very happy to see that TAB is going through to the next round. And I think Callumrice should have made it to the next round on the basis of sheer ballsy smacknitude or something. ;->

I can see what 'vike means about the theme. It seemed pretty basic, but it ended up being unexpectedly convoluted. My thinking was to try to cover my bases by trying to do both something that wasn't a typical human colour and also not a typical colour for that creature type, but there were comments of people not seeing how it fit theme or feeling it should have been a different colour, so seems to me this is a theme where a lot more was subject to interepretation than you would think.

Several people who commented had mixed feelings about the sculpt, and honestly I did also. The leg is just a picture angle thing. I normally put a lot into painting faces, and I think Ritual is right that I didn't here. The open part of the eyes were just minute, so I decided to go with just painting the eyes an all over dark colour like on my inspiration fish. The face is a little odd, particularly around the mouth area, both in the sculpt and the original artwork, so I don't think I related to it in the same way I often do painting faces. What I really liked with this sculpt was the unusual posing and sense of playfulness with the water spout.

My inspirational fish didn't really have any patterning or colour shifts on the main body, but I agree with the comments that a lighter belly or pattern or something would add a little something to the mini that it needs. I think I did start the base colour a little too dark an orange, so that after the shading went on the overall look is more red orange and reminiscent of fire than the golden orange I was going for.

Congrats and commiserations folks.

I have to say actually the one that blew my mind for not winning was Tab. I was pretty certain that one would have won but more or less surprised me there, but then that's what several judges are for and thus different likes and dislikes come into play.

Looking forward to the next theme for ya'll - I think I might take a page out of Anders book about the theme this time about as ya'll are all advancing now and we've gotten through the jitters.

EricJ
03-23-2007, 01:22 AM
so, we have 15 winners...and the highest not to advance was TAB...I thought she had a great entry, does this mean she advances also?

Edit: I should read the whole thread before I start talk'n hmmm?

Roughly, this is how I judged the theme points:

1 - Complete disregard of the theme (i.e. human looking mini with human looking skin)
2 - Non-human looking mini with ordinary skin for the type of creature
3 - A random funky-looking skin colour with no apparent "idea" behind the choice
4 - A different skin colour backed up with an idea
5 - A different skin colour backed up with a particularly original or clever idea

Then, of course, there are inbetweens for which I used the half-points. :)

Congrats and commiserations where applicable! Well done all who entered!

Ha ha Maestro your a funny guy!

Alas, I was waiting at my pc till bout 10 past 5 UK time waiting on the results yesterday but to no avial. Now I needed to come in today first thing in the morning to find I got nailed! Not a good day.

To be brutaly honest I was dissapointed with the scoring I received from Skya. In relation to the theme and her explination on how she scored theme I thought I was in for decent points, but only 3 (I think) out of 5. And she scored real low, especially in comparison with other judges, in relation to technical score. After reading her stuff about how he scored technical I feel 2 out of 5 just didnt fit. But hey, its a judges perogative and she is entitled to score what he wants. And I was soundly beaten by Eric anyway, just would have been nice if I was closer to going through as lowest loser.

Ok, gripe over.

I enjoyed the smack talk Eric, and all the best for the next round. S not so bad if you get beat by the overall winner! PM me your address and Ill send you some bumph.

An Maestro, you winning still doesnt stop you smelling! Phew!

Isn't it better for you., Callumrice, to stay at the sideline cheering me on, instead of getting all messed up being at the front line of this brutal contest? You should be greatful you didn't win the wild card like I did before and get kick twice in the arse. However it was 2 demure, gentle ladies that kicked me so it wasn't that painful. I bet Eric's kick is gonna hurt alot more.

Looks like Maestro got another easy start. I mean of for you the competition hasn't started, cos if it did, you wouldn't be in rd 2.

A reminder to whoever gonna face me in rd2, my butt kick is gonna hurt real BAD!
