First of all I want to thank everybody who voted and commented on this mini. Thank you :)

This the first time I participated in a Wyrd contest, but it won't be the last.

In my opinion the Nyss Sorceress is one of the best sculpts in the Iron Kingdoms range and I wanted to paint her for a long time. After several unsuccessful attempts to get my greedy hands on this mini a friend asked me to paint her for him - naturally I jumped at the chance :)

I chose a rather limited palette of reds and blues (again) with lots of purple glazes to set the mood and unify the colors. the most difficult part (and probably the weakest too...) was the cloak. While the sculpt is awesome it is very challenging and exhausting to paint. But enough talk now, let's roll the pics:

You can see more angles and a huge close-up on my website (http://www.painted-miniatures.de/galleries/privateer_press.php?detail_id=88)

If any of you cares to vote again, she is up on CMON too (http://www.coolminiornot.com/151824) :)

What do you think?

I like this one very much! I like the soft, muted colours and the base is great in all it's simplicity. The only complaint I have really, is similar to what Avelorn said on CMON, that the lower part of the cloak seems pretty much unhighlighted where it should catch the overhead light that makes the hair so bright. But that doesn't keep this from being a great and very moody piece!

I love the dark moody feel of this piece. And the metallic sections on the scabbard are excellent.

I've always liked this mini ever since I saw it featured in one of that one category in The Chick Challenge a couple of years ago (has it been that long?). I think you did a great job on her, I even voted on her it that category as one of my picks.
I have this mini also, but as yet unpainted, since that cloak is daunting!

Off to vote at cmon! :D

I entered that category in the Chick Challenge Duende mentioned. I went into painting the fig thinking oh yeah, 'I'll get this cloak kickass' and was thoroughly humbled. I think you did a great job with this. Though I agree some of the individual 'leaves' could be highlighted up a bit more, the overall approach is very cool and works well with the sculpt. (The whole thing, not just the cloak.)

really like this one, but also agree about the comment regarding the bottom of the cloak (think I mentioned it too in the competition threads)

A fantastic entry and such a beautiful use of ciomplimentary colours.

Thanks for the feedback :) I agree with the cloak. I can underline what Wren said: starting with it I thought I'd do something different and make it kick ass - and I was humbled very quickly... And then there was that competition deadline looming ;)
