Apparently those little guys are the familiars. Wizards can cast spells through them.
Some of them are nice, while others are too goofy IMO

Quite frankly, the minis for the hellish faction aren't the best ones - the spaniards and the sarcens look much better...

I like alot of the minis but I am also interested in how the board was constructed - especially the ice and protruding icebergs/ice caps....is there a tut somewhere I may have missed?

I'm not aware of any tutorials on it, though I might have missed them too. One of the team of folks that made the game tables for this game posted them on CMON - http://www.coolminiornot.com/browse/page/2/submitter/Manumilitari. They also have their own website. They look to have some tutorials there, some of which have been translated into English, but I didn't on a quick glance see one related to the ice table. There are a couple of articles on other terrain tables they've done. Go to the Articles section then under Decors there are two Table de Jeu articles. My French is too rusty to attempt a useful translation, you'd be just as well off with Bablefish likely. http://www.ttcreation.com/

I like that little teddy bear style thing with blades strapped in place of his hands.
For the rest, some are good, some not so good, looks like a cool game though.

in reference to the models I like the lot, they are very smart. Even the familiars, they are funny. I like the one with knives roped to its arms, very characterful.
