Alrighty, I have been hearing about 'chavs' for some time now and what I understand it to be is the US equivalent to trailor trash or something along those lines.

What are they? Where did the name come from? And for gawds sake, someone give me some pictures to work with. It's like a train wreck, you don't want to look, but you have to.

:D

Ugh. Don't start me on Chavs. I am having a real Chav problem at the moment.

Anti-social scum. Think tracksuits, prison-white trainers, cheap Argos jewellery and Burberry baseball caps. Oh, and trackie bottoms tucked into their socks.

In Sweden chavs are called 'kickers', but it's basically the same kind of people.

I guess the closest equivalent here would be 'gangstas' or 'wannabes'...

Thanks SV, that pretty much 'clicked' it all in place for me. At first they sounded like a 'joke' but then I started reading about being mugged, jumped, etc and then it started to come off a bit more dark so I wasn't sure.

Cracka' Wannabe's - that about sums it up.

Well I would of never know, if I had not gone and looked. I learned something new today.
