I wanted to share with you guys a little contest that went down at our local game store. The idea was to take a model by an alternative miniature company, give everyone the same level playing field (such as time limit, photography, and miniature), and see what the guys could do with it.
Everyone decided on the Viktoria model and the contest was born. Everyone had one full month to paint her and the only rule was she somehow had to be mounted on the base that was supplied with the mini. The winners were chosen by peer voting. I'll not flood the forum with the pics so feel free to browse the rest of the entries at http://www.deusmechanicus.com/images_mechanicus/wyrd/

All contestants had a great time, and really came up with some good stuff. It was cool to see just how differently people interpreted the same model. Big thanks to Nathan for everything. Hope you all enjoy seeing them as we had painting them.

Absolutely cool Jason and thanks for organizing the contest, I was real pleased to see the entries that were put together and pass along a big ol' 'great job' to everyone if you would please.

BTW, Jason has sort of started something here that was being discussed at GenCon by Eric and myself but I haven't had time to put together yet, but basically was along the lines of sponsoring local contests for gamer and painting clubs like Jason has started here. Basically get your group together and lay out the rules as you like, let us know about it and get together some pictures and results of the contest like Jason has done above, and Wyrd will send along some swag and gift certificates. Haven't got the finalities worked out completely but it'll happen here soon.

Thanks again Jason!

I finally had a chance to take a look at the rest of the entries. Good stuff! You have some talented painters in your neck of the woods.
