The polls for both public and private staff voting is now over and I want to thank each of you for once again participating!

There were some clear favorites in the public voting, but as you all know, that only counted for half of the votes, the other half being the private voting of the Wyrd Staff which unanimously voted for the first place with varied tracks between second and third. Without further preamble ...

Something Wyrd:

:1: Wyrd Entry 25 by Mad Max
:2: Wyrd Entry 16 by Skya
:3: Wyrd Entry 6 by Green Stuff

Random Schmuck:
Tyneth

Random Voting Schmucks:
Duende, Queeny and Flit

Congratulations to each and every one of you! If you see your name above, please send a PM to Frustrated Father or the e-mail here on the site and I will send out gift certificates to those that have won them and to our two winners of the actual painted miniatures, will have them sent directly to you when you provide me with your address.

Thank you again for participating in the Wyrd Painting Contests and making this one yet another fun and enjoyable contest!

Congratulations winners.

So, did I get the biggest laughs from the staff?
I really thought I had a chance of showing in this one but have no qualms with the results. Skya's was my top choice in the contest.

HAha, yeah, Vince I had your entry figured out the second I saw it, too funny

I thought Skya's was DAMN nice and I waffled between that an the other for my top vote. I think the diminutive stature of the minis was the tiebreaker. I did thing it was DAMN inventive, real nice work.

Yeah, I suspected that was your entry, Vince, but I also thought that maybe the bowling vampire was yours. I got a good laugh from the both.

Congratulations to the winners!

I had a real difficult time deciding which to put first, Lazslo's or Skya's. In the end it was a couple of really well done details of Lazslo's entry, that really spoke to me, that tipped the scales for me.

Wheee, I'm a Schmuck! Like Malebolgia, I even voted for the three that won.

I had fun participating and enjoyed reading the suggested dialogue for my Domestic Disturbance diorama. (I have yet to pick a favorite and give Rep. points for it). My whole idea for that was to give people something more to comment on, rather than just say the same thing as the 20 before them, I know I hate it when I can't truly think of anything new to add. I hope you all liked that idea.

OK, so when's the next one starting?? :vb_devil:

Well you were right on both counts. I did both of those. I got the ballplayer done in plenty of time then rushed the vampire, but I had a total blast on both of them - even to carving tiny bowling pins out of epoxysculpt.

Does this mean you are going to show up to an Inner Circle (SFBAMP) meeting then Eric? I'm gonna hold you to it! :D

Thanks for the comments left on my entry (Wyrd 8). As for those who wondered where the club design is on the model, I'll say take another closer look, its on his vest upper button.:vb_devil:

3 cheers for the winners!:You_Rock_

Congratulations to the winners! And to all the entrants. There were a lot of well-painted and creatively presented miniatures, and I quite enjoyed viewing and commenting on the entries.

Many years from now when I die, I expect to have a Citizen Kane moment and breathlessly mutter 'lilypads' as my last word before I shuffle off this mortal coil. Only a few folks who live far away would know this has something to do with my downfall in this contest. ;-> Thank you to all of those who commented and/or voted on my entry, I really appreciate the feedback. Misaki is a lovely mini, Wyrd fans who haven't purchased one yet should go grab one right now!

Someone asked me what I used for the water on the base. I used good ole Future Floor Finish. While I no longer use it as a painting additive, I had read in a military dioramas book that it was a good tool for small areas of water like puddles. I had used Woodland Scenics Realistic Water for a previous basing attempt, and I was not happy with the result. It shrank buckets in the short run, requiring several applications. It continued to shrink in the long run, and a year later the base now looks pretty crappy and stupid, with glossy slime covering a few rocks at the bottom of a depression. The Future has worked out pretty well in the short term, but I guess it'll be a year before I can report back on long term results.

I picked up some of the imps FF just posted up at GenCon, and I had hoped to get one done to enter the contest, but time just didn't permit. I'm sort of glad now, I think it would have come out looking pretty wretched next to Eric's great paint jobs!

Thanks for the good words Wren and you did a lovely job on Misaki! As for the IMps - hah - have a go for it. I would have killed to see a painted set in there. :D

I wouldn't have been able to manage the whole set and Misaki, but I did want to try for the one. He's still on the to-do queue, but if I make the next round of Iron Painter, between that and other commitments, it might be a while until I get to him. There's something I've got in mind for one of his brothers, so he might actually make it off the table first. Thanks for the compliment on Misaki!
