Some new releases from Ilyad, a french company doing resin miniatures. I have a couple of their miniatures and love the creativity in them. Like the archers - the evil fellow though I'm not too hot on.

One thing I have to bitch about though is the bases this company does. They cast them on blocks, that then are glued (by you) into the recesses of the base. That's alright if you get one of the miniatures that is only held on by his feet, you can cut that away and grind. Where the problem comes in is when you have one of those rat bastards that has his robe or something going all the way to the base - work, work, work if you want it removed.

I like the archers with the tonsours. Not sure why they have blue hair like their tabbards and metal bows, but other than that, they are very nice.

The archers are nice, but really don't seem all that new or interesting to me, and I don't really like the big guy much at all either, looks very dull for Ilyad. They have a lot of other better models I think :)

Well first one has to get Ilyad to respond to emails (English is not their prime language as a company) and hope they have interest in overcoming the language barrier to supply American shops. :)

I bet they don't read English emails, or take the time :(

you might want to find a good translator on your end first :)

Well I did get an email back saying they'd get back to me. So we'll see.

I have heard this same thing for the better part of a year and still nothing comes of it. Not sure if they aren't interested in selling on this side of the ocean or if they have something in the plans with a distributor that hasn't come to light yet.

Time will tell I suppose.

Well, I visited their site (and got a good laugh from some of the Babelfish translations) but these weren't the only pre-orders available. Here's another that's still only concept art, can't wait to see the actual mini!

Also at the site, apparently Ilyad is hiring! But I don't know about thosae qualifications:

(Copied and pasted from site - translated from French to English by Babelfish)

"Young ludic company in full expansion seeks its stockist junior!"

"In short, trève of bla bla corporate, Asmodée Editions is in the search of people which does not want any for the preparation and the forwarding of the orders. One needs a good physical resistance, arms, a brain, good mood, and not to be afraid of talks cock and the flock blows.
Not need for particular formation or diploma, one is occupied of all! You will learn how to operate the cars pal' like true Fangio, and the arrangement of the pallets will not have any more secrecies for you!"

(And under a picture of some current employees)

"With colleagues like that, you will not annoy you!"

Heh, I love translations like that - makes for a damn interesting misunderstanding sometimes. I had Cedric translate the Rotten Harvest announcement for Creafigs and it was entertaining as hell to read it I have to admit.

Concerning the first two designs that Nathan showed, you must remember that the "Chronique de la Lune Noir" mini line is from the "Le Retour des Dieux" wargame. Which means that Ilyad can come up with what ever design they want for the "Le Retour des Dieux" main line but they have to conforme to the "Chronique de la Lune Noir" universe as can be seen in the on going comic book series (12 volumes to date since 20 years) for those specific minis. So sometimes it can seem outdated, or just plain cool depending from which album the design comes from.

Concerning the distribution to english speaking countries, you might want to try here : http://www.gamers-quest.co.uk/acatalog/Illyad_Miniatures.html . I think it was discussed a while ago on CMON that they'd be the main distributers chosen by Ilyad.

If some of you would like one of their mails to Ilyad translated, I'd be happy to give a helping hand.

I just want to be able to get some of their mini's and not pay up the ass in shipping costs.

That does look nice, it looks like they didn't sculpt all the damn little viens on the feathers, which I HATE!!! I mean, when you look at a feather full size it is nearly smooth except of course down the center, WAY more smooth than how people sculpt feathers in 28mm scale, it's rediculous! Sculptors, just sculpt feathers smooth with just the center raised and maybe throw in a little flare here and there with a split!!! (like it looks this one was sculpted)

Anyway, anyone want to bet how long it'll take those wings to end up on a Celestine conversion :tired:

I think I could handle that if you want, I'm definitively getting one for me ;) (and I'd package it better than what I did last time for Nathan; sorry again about that : you live, you learn ;)).

He's announced at 35€ on the web site (http://www.siroz.com/retour-des-dieux/chroniques-de-la-lune-noire/produits/archange-de-justice.htm). I think you'd need to count between 2 and 10€ (probably 5€) for shipment. And yes I know I have to check mark the gift option ;).

Oh, GS! You are wonderful! :You_Rock_

Hmm, let's see at xe.com (http://www.xe.com) that makes it $41.93 with shipping probably around $5.99. So that's almost $50 for one [particularily awesome] mini.... I'm gonna have to sell some stuff at eBay ;) You take PayPal?

Thanks!!! :adore:

My pleasure Duende. However, I'm not in town this week-end and I'm on the move during the week, so you'll have to wait till the week-end after. Sorry about that. I would have suggested you to try with Arthur if you're afraid it'll take too long, but he's busy with school this year :(.

No problem for PayPal (we'll see about that after I get the shipment fee sorted out, but it should be around what I annonced).

I'll PM you as soon as I get my hands on the mini ;).

XE and Paypal don't always sync up - as a matter of fact, I think Paypal fuggels with the numbers so that they get some extra money in there somehow. I just did a rather large transfer of cash in euros and xe had it as .83 or so and paypal had it at .81. Couldn't really argue of course as it needed to be taken care of.

It isn't 'much' but it does add up for larger purchases.

FF- Yeah, it was just so I could get a rough idea of what it would cost (and post it so others can see it, for those who would pay in $ and not euros). Exchange rates change constantly anyway. I think any difference would be negligible.

GS - No problem! That gives me time to sell my soul or something at eBay for funds ;)

Cheers! :tea:

@Duende : I got out of work early and rushed to my LGS ... they were open but didn't have an archangel in stock :(. They're ordering it and should have it by Friday 28th :). Could you please PM me your address before the 29th?
