With out latest releases as well as another nine miniatures which we'll be releasing in limited numbers (due to casting deadlines) at GenCon of our slightly less serious and more over the top line, we thought it was about time for us to run, and sponsor, a contest strictly for Wyrd Miniatures.
As this is our first solely sponsored event, we thought we had best pull out all the stops and do something special for the prizes, and to that end we have shanghied Eric Johns (EricJ) studio paint production of Ramos - Steampunk Sorcerer!

This contest round will be run differently than our previous contests and because of it's nature, also has some important changes added. Please read the following post entirely and carefully as we don't want any hard feelings or disqualifications due to rule breaking or bending. If you have any questions, ASK! We will be happy to answer them.
The theme for this round of contest is 'Something Wyrd'. As you might guess from the theme name, this round is for any painted miniature produced by Wyrd. Any Wyrd miniature may be entered in the contest. Other miniatures may be used as long as a Wyrd miniature is the focal point of the diaroma or base. Conversions are allowed and even encouraged!
As this round is for Wyrd's line of Miniatures, it makes sense that Wyrd is the one and only sponsor for this round. The prizes will consist of:
Grand Prize: You might remember the wonderfully object light source painted version of Ramos - Steampunk Sorcerer that was done for Wyrd by EricJ.... Well this extraordinary piece is our Grand Prize! You can see the painted version here (Ramos (http://wyrd-games.net/www.wyrd-games.net/pictures/ramos.jpg)) or in person at our booth in GenCon. The 1st place winner of this contest gets to keep this awesome miniature.
First Place: A $50.00 USD Wyrd store gift certificate and the Studio version of Ramos.
Second Place: A $30.00 USD Wyrd store gift certificate.
Third Place: A $15.00 USD Wyrd store gift certificate.
Random Schmuck Prizes:
A special Steampunk Arachnid Swarm painted by EricJ!
Three Wyrd store gift certificate prizes of $10.00 USD each
The contest will run from August 2nd to September 10th and during that time competition entries can be submitted. At the close of the contest, voting will commence for one week where you will be allowed to vote anonymously through the Wyrd forum software as well as leave comments and critique which we have found our previous entrants have greatly enjoyed. For this round public voting only counts for a portion of the votes used to determine the winners. The public vote totals will be taken into account and combined with the votes from Wyrd staff voters to determine the winners. After the voting, announcements will be made and prizes sent to the winners, along with the random prizes that we give away with every contest.
In order to participate in the contest you must create an account on the Wyrd Miniatures website in order to submit an entry and to vote in the polls which will decide the winners of the contest. You are encouraged to enjoy the forums and participate, but it is NOT required in any fashion in order to enjoy the Wyrd Painting Contest.
Wyrd staff CAN enter the contest and have a chance to win. In doing so, they are excluded from the Wyrd voting staff.
When participating in the competition, you must submit a miniature that is in line with the current THEME that is being hosted. The miniature MUST be a miniature manufactured by Wyrd Miniatures. You may use other companies miniatures, but only to add to the Wyrd miniature or to add scenic effects. The Wyrd Miniature MUST be the primary miniature and clearly the focus of your entry. Conversions and diorama's are both allowed and encouraged.
By entering the contest, and uploading your pictures you grant Wyrd the right to use, publish, or otherwise reproduce copies of your entry. All submitted picture entries become the property of Wyrd and may be used in any means Wyrd deems fit. Disqualification does not terminate this agreement. All submissions are considered agreement and consent of the above contest conditions. Appropriate acknowledgement of painters will be given. If you do not agree, do not enter.
All submissions must be yours alone, no passing off of someone else's work as your own. You CAN submit a miniature that someone else has converted or sculpted for you though - just not painted, based .. etc.
You are allowed to submit MULTIPLE entries to the contest. As many as you can paint, you can submit.
The miniature cannot have been displayed in any form elsewhere on the internet or published mediums such as magazines. ALL entries must be new unseen paint jobs! All contest entries will be displayed anonymously to prevent unfair advantages based on name (this isn't a popularity contest) and thus there can be no signatures or watermarks upon any entries. No announcing on forums, webpage, blogs or any other type of medium about the type of miniature that you will be painting, nor concept sketches.
When photographing and editing your pictures, please submit them in .JPG (JPEG) format, with a file size of no larger than 250k. Photographs can be no larger than 800 pixels wide. I'm not much worried about length as it will allow you to fit in angles of the photograph. If you send me a photograph that doesn't fall within the limits prescribed above, it will be deleted. Due to the sheer number of people that have entered unedited photographs in the past we will no longer do any editing for you. There are many free photo resizing programs out there. You can find one here at http://www.irfanview.com/ Wyrd staff will attempt to notify anyone who's pictures were deleted due to size or for any reason, but can not guarantee notification.
Miniatures can be submitted at any time during the contest until voting starts. None will be showcased till the day after the final submissions date. Submissions will be accepted up till Midnight, EASTERN U.S. time, on the closing date of the currently running contest. Submissions after the cut off date will NOT be accepted, no exceptions.
In order to submit an entry for the contest, go to the current contest gallery and upload your entry. As the gallery is set for moderation, your submission will NOT show up immediately but will instead wait for me to review and edit accordingly. When submitting your contest entry, please take the time to describe the miniature and as well as any other contest notes you wish me to review before editing. DO NOT add any webpage links, mention of your name/handle, links to larger pictures or any other form of personal identification to your description. Due to the amount of pictures that contained personal information in their descriptions in the last contest, these pictures will not be edited by Wyrd staff and will be deleted. Wyrd staff will attempt to contact anyone who's entry has been deleted to let them resubmit but can not guarantee notification.
At the closing date of the contest, the submissions will be published to the proper contest gallery, anonymously, and the voting will begin.
In order to vote, you must be a registered member of the website.
A poll with your choice of winners will be presented to you where you select your favorites. While viewing the contest submissions in the gallery, you will be allowed to leave comments and critique on the entry. Please try to be constructive with these comments, as they will be published publicly once reviewed by a Moderator!
Public Voting will be open for seven days immediately after polls are posted for the contest. The public vote totals will be taken into account and combined with the votes from Wyrd staff voters to determine the winners. Entries will be voted on technical merit, creative display and the situations presented. After the voting, announcements will be made and prizes sent to the winners, along with the random prizes that we give away with every contest.
Should there be any questions, or if anything is unclear, PLEASE take the time to ask in the forums as that is the quickest way to receive clarification on a subject as well as bring it to the attention of others.
