NEWS: New Black Hat goblins by Kev Adams

The first of what apparently is gonna be a serie of goblins by Kev's hand for Black Hat's Distant Lands Fantasy range.

They will be £5 for 4 figures (including shields and bases), same as the existing pack.

Black Hat will also be doing a £20 regiment pack with 20 figures in it including command.

Yep, Kev Adams did the orcs and goblins for GW in the late 80ies and early 90ies! I don't think GW can do much about these since they can hardly lay any claim on inventing goblins. They haven't invented robes with pointy hoods either, so... Even though it's a rip-off, I'm not sure GW can do anything about it.

We'll just have to wait and see! :)

haha, just because GW shouldn't be able do anything about it...doesn't mean they won't try ;)

they also don't own power armor, or big shoulder pads, but they're aweful protective of those

I do believe they regard the Space Marine concept their IP and thus they go after anything that resembles Space Marines. If you do the power armour distinctly different than the Space Marines' they have no case.

I think most of the time GW "bullies" small companies who are too scared to go to court and fold freely to their threats.

Likely right there, but more to the point, the court costs and lawyering up would make most folks just give in for the simple fact that its cheaper and less trouble. Know it would be a hard decision for me if I found myself in that situation (never, never!)

Still, good gobbo's, I'm sure they will do well with the fans of the GW ones.

Yes was called "Goblin masters" at GW when he was mister greenskins. He's now out of the GW dictat since more than 15 years. Kev is the guy who give me the miniature virus with all that so Fonky gobboz. This is not the GW style, this is Kev style. as long as now it's the job of the tallent full Brian Answell (if I remember the exact name) to be Mr greenskins at GW. Different style.
But Kev should be relax with any law fight, because GW dont produce any of his work since many years. More: Kev does a lot of similar gobs and the GW inqusition does nothing.
